“A most excellent Inn!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 12, 2013

The Andrew Pinckney Inn is in the heart of Charleston SC. The location was perfect, lots of attractions within easy walking distance.
The accommodations are very nice and the staff is exceptionally courteous and most helpful.

The lemonade and freshly baked cookies in the lobby were fabulous.

We highly recommend the Andrew Pinckney.

Only stayed at the Andrew Pinckney from Monday evening until Wednesday evening - but a really good hotel for our first Charleston visit - very friendly staff, good room, breakfast on the roof, a great location (very close to the market) - could not have been better - thanks to all - you are doing a great job!

We celebrate our anniversary a little late each year at the Low Country Jazz Festival and usually stay a night or two in Charleston. Stayed this year at the Andrew Pinckney Inn. The location is within walking distance to the downtown Charleston area. The Standard King room was very well appointed with a generous sitting area, desk and fireplace but the bonus items were the IPod stereo and comfortable bed( My whole family sleeps on Simmons Beauty Rest mattresses and I was able to identify what I was sleeping on immediately, because the bed was so comfortable!) The staff kindly surprised us with a bottle of champagne in our room. Complimentary Breakfasts on the rooftop garden were delicious, have a very friendly and helpful hostess and always offered a wide variety of choices. Our room was near the main entry way, so we knew precisely when everyone staying there got in at night and heard all conversations and ice machine commotion throughout the night into the early morning. I only wish they added signage posting the area as a quiet zone after midnight.

Room Tip: Simmons Beauty Rest mattress!! More of a Bed and Breakfast type setting since the noise in the hal...

The Andrew Pinckney is centrally located, just a few blocks from Market Street and many restaurants...you can also walk to the waterfront as well. Our room was in the building across from the main Inn and it wasIs was clean, comfortable and very charming. All of the staff were very friendly. The staff at the front desk was gracious and helpful. They suggested alternative activities but that could not accommodate our schedule. The Andrew Pinckney Inn is a great choice for your visit to Charleston...I know we would return!!

The Andrew Pinckney is perfectly located. Just a few blocks from Market Street but on a quiet street that keeps you close to the heart of activity yet allows a quiet night's sleep. Our room was in the building across from the main Inn. Is was charming, clean, spacious and well appointed. The staff was so friendly. From the woman who made up our room to the lovely lady who serviced the breakfast buffet. We planned on renting a car over the Labor Day weekend only to find the local rental offices were closed. The staff at the front desk was gracious and helpful. They suggested alternative activities but that could not accommodate our schedule. They helped me get to the airport and I was there and back in less than an hour with a car and off to our adventures. Do yourself a favor in Charleston, stay at the Andrew Pinckney Inn.

Stayed at the API for three nights over Labor Day weekend to attend a wedding. The hotel is beautifully decorated inside and out, and in the perfect location. A short walk to really anyplace you wanted to go. The room we stayed in was small, but very comfortable. Breakfast was always tasty and the 4th floor balcony area was a great place to relax any time of the day. Service was outstanding. Wasn't a fan of valet parking before we arrived, however, once we got there it was a plus to have someplace to park. Well worth the $20/day. Never waited more than a minute or two to get the car! Charleston is a wonderful place to visit and the staff at the API was very helpful in pointing us in the right direction anytime we had questions. Would definitely stay here again!

3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2013

My wife and I stayed at the Andrew Pinckney Inn as part of a semi-planned summer vacation driving down from Durham, NC to Savannah, GA. Our three nights in Charleston were immeasurably enhanced by the prime location of the Inn. It is within just a few blocks of most major streets (Market, Meeting, King, East Bay, etc.). Since we are used to walking, we never took the car out of the garage once.

The Inn is located on Pinckney street in two buildings across the street from each other. We booked a room at the last minute and got one with two double beds in the older building. Upon arrival we were greeted with a smile by the valets/bellmen who helped unload our bags and parked the car (an extra $20 a night but the only on-property choice). The reception and check-in were equally friendly and polite.

Our room easily harked back to an earlier era but everything was in perfect working condition. The beds were comfortable, the pillows not so much but that is a personal preference. Being a historic building the room opened out on to a breezeway right next to driveway to the Inn parking. The other side of the room was on Pinckney street. Yet the room was quiet at night.

The bathroom was clean and adequate. The lighting was a bit strange in that two switches gave a choice of either turning on a dim light over the shower or turning on the vanity light and the bathroom fan. So you could not have adequate light without the fan.

A great feature of the Inn is that a continental breakfast was included and is served on a rooftop verandah overlooking the city. The area is small but quite sufficient for most people's needs to grab a quick breakfast before getting on to exciting Charleston!

My rating of this property is related to the amenities available at the Inn (e.g. no restaurant, pool, room service, etc) compared to other hotels and NOT to my satisfaction with the property. I got exactly what I wanted for this stay.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms on the east side. The building is newer and the rooms should be even quiter.
