The accommodations and the breakfast bar were excelent. The staff was very courteous and friendly. I believe they truly wanted to make me feel welcome and at home. The location was near shops and various dining establishments yet very convenient to get into the heart of downtown Charleston, SC within minutes. I would highly recommend this Holiday Inn Express! Kudos to the management and staff of this hotel!

My wife and I have stayed at this hotel previously during renovations on our house, and we have also had family members stay here while they were in Charleston. We have never been disappointed. These people really know how to make you feel welcome! I have to travel quite a bit for my job, and I have never encountered a front desk staff as friendly, and as genuinely caring, as these ladies are. The location is only 10 minutes from downtown, and there are many restaurants near the hotel. They offer a complimentary breakfast in the morning which is quite good. We love their pancake machine! We have always found the rooms to be very clean, and have never had an issue in that regard. We did have a slight problem with the remote control to the TV, but after a call to the front desk, they had it fixed in five minutes flat (needed new batteries). It's that kind of attention to customer service that really sets this place apart. We would never stay anywhere else in Charleston!

Booked two rooms for our stay December 2012 so we would be ready for our cruise ship departure. The room looked good but when my son sat down on his bed it squeaked and rolled like it was falling about. Since we arrived around 10pm and were only staying one night I decided to just inform the front desk and deal with it. I was not able to sleep from so I walked into the bathroom and found 2 bugs. They looked like roaches to me but the front desk person said it was water bugs and acted as if it were nothing. Actually told me about these bugs in his own home as if they are part of the fixture. From my experience in the past a water bug is what they are called in your place and roaches when they are found in someone else's home (hotel). After reading the reviews I decided to stay here because of so many higher ratings but would not recommend it. The people working throughout the hotel were friendly and they did have breakfast. However I usually stay at Holiday Inn Express because they are so highly rated but this one fell below all the others I have stayed at before.

We paid 80$ per 1 night (3 people) and this place was better than 4 out of 5 hotels we slept in the previous 10 days, where we paid an average of 250$ per night.
Great room, very clean, very friendly staff, free wifi, ok breakfast.
We perfectly rested that night.
