“GORGEOUS!!!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 3, 2011 via mobile

Booked our suite in June then read reviews a week or so before our trip-after reading some of the negative reviews I was going to cancel our reservation but my husband said we should give it a shot due to the good reviews and to our wanting a two room suite which was difficult to find in the Charleston area. I am soooo glad we didn't cancel! We had a King Corner Two Room Suite with Jacuzzi and it was absolutely gorgeous! Immaculately clean, huge rooms and newly redecorated! Bonus was a very large balcony that was more like a covered porch with its two rockers and chaise with a small table. The 'porch' was very large and accessible from both rooms of the suite. The patio with comfortable stylish furniture and beautiful gardens overlook the pool and marina. We spent several evenings on the patio having dinner or just enjoying drinks. I'm not sure the folks who gave poor reviews stayed in the same hotel. The staff was very hospitable and the entire facility including the pool, gardens, common areas...were beautifully decorated and impeccably appointed. Again, I am so very glad we didn't cancel our reservation, we hope to return soon.

Avoid this hotel. Our linen was covered in body fluids and hair. Balcony looked like it had never been cleaned. Management chided us for complaining.

CYteamLeader, Manager at Courtyard by Marriott Charleston Waterfront, responded to this review, July 26, 2011
The guest was in his room for several hours before he called for a change of linen to be sent. He never asked for a Manager that night and was asked how his stay was at departure and he told the supervisor it was fine. We are so surprised to see his comments to Marriott Corporation and now here on this site. His statements are Contradictory to the facts we know. He stated he operates 5000 rental condominiums about an hour from our location. He of all people would know the damage a comment like this would cause to a business similar to his. We can not make an impression right if you don't tell us what concerns you, while you are here. I welcome any sidebar emails between future guest to discuss this specific case and remind you to look at other recent comments here for the best evaluation.

very relaxing in the heart of charleston, folly beach is close and downtown is right there. And the pool is nice. Last trip we invited family to the hotel and ordered some pizzas and hung out on the patio and by the pool.

We stayed here for our son's wedding. The rooms were small, but big enough for the 2 of us. The king bed was very comfortable and the balcony view of the pool and marina was very nice. Breakfast buffet was very good and at 9.95 per person, we felt it was a good price compared to others we have had. The front desk staff was helpful in arranging for taxi transportation. The location is not far from the downtown area(a 7.00 cab ride) and the drive over to Folly Beach was easy and just about 7-8 miles. The elevators had issues a couple of days, but as much as they are used it is understandable, They were repaired within a few hours. This was our first trip to Charleston and we will go back when there are no wedding events to attend and stay here again.

Room Tip: We enjoyed the balcony and would request one again.

Loved the location, beautiful hotel, friendly staff; Hotel is not far from the historic district at all. It is an easy 1.5 miles to the district. You can be part of the party then retreat to your quiet and comfortable room. The hotel offers free parking, great patio area, lovely pool and awesome views of the marina. We loved having a full waterview room with a balcony. Breakfast was fair. There are other places with an excellent breakfast. The air conditioner didn't work very well in our room. Maintenance did replace our unit with another one, which helped, but our room never got very cool at all. Still, the hotel tried to fix it and accommodate us. I would recommend the hotel and would definitely stay here again.

Marriott was gracious and gave us an upgrade, Rm 351 was fantastic: a very large corner balcony with room for many chairs with a fantastic view of the harbor. The main living room and kitchen was very spacious and well appointed. No kitchen accessories though, so bring your own dinner ware, utensils, etc.
The front desk staff, especially Ashley, was very accommodating in our requests.
The pool is outdoors and in full view of all the rooms. The outdoor veranda is nice for sipping a drink while watching the sun set. Parking is free and features covered underground parking (fills up later in the day but more outside parking available).
The location is easy to get to the historic district, Folly Beach, and Isle of Palms. It’s only a 30 minute walk (1.5 miles) to Historic Downtown area and is a lovely tree-lined walk with hundreds of picturesque old houses.
If you want to bike downtown, take Lockwood Drive south and take a right onto the pedestrian/bike walkway under the bridge. It’s only a 10 minute ride to Battery Park. Also, Colonial Lake off of Beaufain St. and the US Coastguard Station off of Tradd St-->Murray Blvd, are very nice photo ops.
The closest mini-mart is on Broad St in a residence hotel, 1 mile/2 minutes by car. Fast food (Arbees, McDonalds, Burger King, Hardee’s, etc.) are only 1 mile/4 mins away by car [SC-17/Cannon St.]
Overall, we were very happy with the hotel and would definitely stay again!

John Boyd, the front office Marriott took care of my friends and I at the beautiful Courtyard Marriott. We had 2 rooms with a lovely waterfront view and one with a balcony. The veranda was so peaceful and comfortable to just come home after a long day in the beautiful city of Charleston and just kick back and relax by the water. Mama Swinton was there to greet us with a big smile and hugs and suggestions for what to do. The front desk girls were lively and welcoming with big smiles and fun personalities. I am already coming back this month of July to bring my family and nephews. Thank you Marriott family for always committing to our complete satisfaction!

Room Tip: Stay during the beginning of the week when there is more availability and less tourists;)
