“A wonderful little place with EXCELLENT food!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2011

We stopped here for lunch during our first visit to Historic Bluffton. There was a slight wait (only about 10 minutes) at 12:30 PM on a Saturday afternoon, but it went by quickly as the hostess came outside with samples for those waiting. Once inside and seated, we were treated to a surprisingly great lunch.

This is an old house converted into a bakery and breakfast/lunch cafe'. The setting is very nice as you feel like you are in someone's home. The decor is simple but well done with lots of low country paintings and decorations on the walls.

The menu is varied with lots of salads, wraps and sandwiches, plus a few house specialities. I had the special (pan seared grouper tacos) and my wife had their famous lobster pot pie. Both were excellent and came with a house salad complete with homemade balsamic dressing. My two tacos were FULL with fresh grouper and seasoned to perfection (not too much, but just enough). They came with a side of homemade pico and mild verde sauce (but really neither were needed since they were so well seasoned without them). The lobster pot pie was more of a lobster stew with a puff pastry on top, but it was indeed excellent. They did not skimp on the lobster, the sauce was wonderful and the entire presentation was very, very nice.

They do have beer and wine, but we opted for ice tea this time around. The sweet tea is the standard southern sweet tea that you would expect (and good), but you have to try the fresh brewed unsweet mint tea. It is awesome and unlike any you have had before.

Service was good - efficient and friendly but not rushed or overbearing. Pricing is moderate (lunch without alcohol or dessert was about $40), but the quality is worth it.

We did not endulge in dessert, but they did have a full bakery case so next time we will probably save room. They are also dog friendly on the porch (complete with a doggy menu) so next time Foster and Sophie (our Aussie and our English Bulldog) will be coming along.

“What a gem in old town Bluffton!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2011

Very quaint, and friendly atmosphere. You wouldn't know it by just driving by this little turn of the century house turned restaurant, but The Cottage provides a great meal at a very reasonable price. My wife, two boys, Mother-in-law, and myself all had a generous lunch for under $90....

Highly recommended!!

“Awesome Food, Quaint Atmosphere, Great Desserts!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2011

Came on a rainy day, and sat on their spacious front porch. My husband and I had their Fried Green Tomatoes, and Grouper Tacos. They were awesome! Grouper was very moist, and the sauce on the tomatoes was delicious. We had a slice of chocolate cream pie for dessert, very generous portion, we had to split it, and it was great. The service was excellent. Jamie and Wendy were very attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed to make our experience a pleasurable one. We will be sure to return!

“Stay away from the deserts”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2011

Went in today and purchased 4 different desert items. Prior to purchase I asked which ones were made at the restaurant and the girl said all of them. (there was a "peanut butter stack" which looked exactly like the ones they sell in Fresh Market. The deserts we got were remarkably dull. Definitely NOT worth the calories.
