“Southern Gem”

First of all, if you plan to have a good lunch or dinner at this restaurant, MAKE RESERVATION!

There were only two waitresses when we were there, so service was a bit slow. But they tried to make every guest happy. So, take your time and relax.

Food is wonderful Southern style. We loved everything we ordered.
If you like She Crab soup, try one at this restaurant. The full of flavor, a lot of crab meat, and a bit twist. Not too strong, not too creamy, just right.

We will return for dinner soon!

“Wonderful dinner”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 22, 2013

We stayed at the Beaufort Inn and booked dinner for Saturday night. It doesn't have a liquor license, which they are quick to tell you when you call for a reservation - suggesting you bring wine with you if you would like it with dinner (no corkage fees). We did - having purused the menu ahead of time. My husband had the duck and raved about it saying he thought is was one the best preparations of duck he had ever had! I had shrimp and grits - very southern and very delicious. The servers were friendly and attentive without hovering. The diners around us all looked very happy with their meals as well. There are two rooms, but it is not a large place - so reservations are suggested. It was restaurant week in Beaufort - and this place was well attended. Recommend it highly for a terrific meal. Was also a romantic location for those looking for such!

“Excellent Food and Service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 21, 2013

Like Griffin Market, this was a dining location we did not discover until our third or fourth trip to Beaufort. Located in the Beaufort Inn, the food is delicious and the service is excellent. They do not serve wine, but you are permitted to bring your own.

“Great service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 17, 2013 via mobile

We were staying at the Beaufort Inn and because the weather was so bad, we decided to eat downstairs at Southern Graces Bistro. It was restaurant week, they had a special menu. I had the short ribs and my husband had the pecan crusted chicken. My mashed potatoes were cold, but our wonderful server gladly brought a new side of them. They were nice and hot. Rest of the meal very good. Unfortunately we did not get the name of our great server, so are unable to give her the kudos she deserves. Will see her in the morning, so hopefully will get her name then. We will be back!

“Incredible Lunch at Southern Graces Bistro”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 5, 2013

Our group of four decided on a day trip to Beaufort and thought a late Lunch would be a good choice. We read about this Restaurant and it's Chef and decided this was the place for Lunch.
We were dubious when we checked out the menu as the pricing is very low. Much to our surprise, all four of us enjoyed EVERYTHING from our appetizers which included crispy, fried green tomatoes expertly prepared. There was four thick slices of tomatoes coated with corn meal and fried to a crispy finish and then topped with small morsels of crisp bacon and green onions and red cabbage. The slices were resting on a bed of grits. If you like Fried tomatoes you should not pass these up. I ordered the BLUE PLATE SPECIAL which was Short ribs in a dark, rich gravy acommpanied by mashed potatoes and butter glazed carrots. The short rib was expertly prepared and easily shredded with my knife and fork. The potatoes were ordinary and slightly bland. The carrots were fresh and nicely glazed with butter. This was a Dinner portion-and all of us passed on Dinner that night. We choose CHOCOLATE CREME BRULEE for Dessert which was rich and choclatey and well received by all four of us. Lunch is Ala Carte. Get this though; my Blue Plate platter was $9.95 ! Dessert was $4.95 for two people. Oops, I almost forgot to mention that our waitress (Kathy) started all us out with large warm Popovers with molded pieces of Maple Syrup enhanced butter that were outragious ! More good news; This place is a BYOB and they do NOT charge a corking fee. A FANTASTIC experience !!!
