What a great park! Your visit begins with a drive to the beaches on beautifully shaded roads. There is so much green, lush tropical foliage that I thought we had entered the gates of Jurassic Park! The paved parking areas are a short distance from the beach. They had flush toilets with changing areas. We had a great time walking along the beach, exploring among the downed trees and watching the small crabs and other animals and insects. Pelicans flew overhead, it looked like they were on an invisible roller coaster. They have loggerhead turtle nests too. People were swimming, fishing, and just enjoying the outdoors without being crowded. We visited the lighthouse as well and enjoyed seeing the beautiful cardinals and blue jays nibbling on seeds on the ground. The view from the well-maintained lighthouse was breathtaking. There were also buildings surrounding the lighthouse with interesting information in them. Although there was a $5 admission fee per adult (less rates for kids), it was well worth it. We will definitely visit again when we are in the area.
