“Interesting old house.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 27, 2012

This is an old house built in the 1700's. The docent was knowledgeable and quite interesting to listen to. The architecture was interesting especially the crown molding. Furniture in the house is to period but was never in this house. All furniture was stolen/destroyed by the slaves or Yankee troops. The house is still undergoing restoration. Admission was $10 per person.

Terrific representation of life in the south during the pre and post civil war.

“We've got Loads of History Here”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 18, 2011

as a Beaufort resident, i'm always impressed at the dedication of people in this small town to preserving their history. the Verdier House has displays and occasional lectures about Beaufort. this includes not only the old line families (who gave the town over to the Yankees in 1861 without a fight), but also the Gullah (slave) culture. it's a great place to start your visit in Beaufort.
