My family and I stayed here while visiting Beaufort for my daughter’s graduation from boot camp at Parris Island. If you are in the area for a Marines graduation, this hotel is a good choice. It is located close to main roads, so access to Parris Island was easy (about five miles away, if I recall). There is also a Marines goods store (The Corps Store) right down the road. The hotel is situated just one block in from the main street, so you are close to everything but you still have a little buffer zone that allows some privacy and quiet. Some shopping and restaurants are definitely within walking distance.
I did quite a lot of online researching of hotels before choosing this one. It was a little more expensive than some of the others, but I found the cost to be justified and my choice well made. This is a really nice hotel. The main lobby is inviting and well decorated, and because the heat outside was oppressive, it was a pleasure to find a refreshing jar of iced water with fresh fruit slices awaiting hotel guests each day. The hotel staff was accommodating and very polite. (I was greeted by staff members who were merely walking past me.) Our room was immaculate and the furnishings classy. The bed was very comfortable and was set with extra pillows. I didn’t make use of the pool and things like the exercise room, but the hotel does have them, and from what I saw of them, they were adequate and well maintained.
So why four dots and not five? Well, I would give four and a half dots if I could. The only criticism I have relates to the temperature of the lobby. It was a little warm, and when we asked if the A/C could be turned up, we were told that when the cooking hood in the kitchen is turned on (there is a dining area located on the right side of the lobby), it tends to suck out the cool air in the lobby. The lobby is so comfortable and conducive to sitting with family and friends to chat, but the experience is affected because you may not be as cool as you would like. Since a hotel's lobby is the center point for interaction and the place where you get your first impression of the place, it seemed a little strange that this kind of design flaw was not foreseen and avoided.
Overall, I would not hesitate to stay here again.

Thank you for taking the time to submit a review for our hotel. We appreciate your comments about our hotel, guestroom and employees. I will share your comments with the staff at our next employee meeting as a job well done. I am sorry that our lobby was not as cool as it should have been. We want all of our guests to be comfortable and as you stated the lobby is a place for friends and family to meet. I'm afraid that the employee that told you the vent in the kitchen sucked out the air for the lobby was incorrect. The kitchen vents are an entirely different unit. However, we did find an issue with the lobby unit and have corrected it. I do apologize for any inconvenience that this may have caused you. I know the heat here in the south can be brutal at times and you definately need a nice, cool lobby to relax in. No worries, we have it all corrected. Thank you so much for choosing our hotel and we hope to have you as our guest in the future.
