“Nice and Quaint B&B Close to Beach”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 30, 2012

We just recently got back from a trip Westerly RI and stayed at the Villa B&B. First off, Barb and Michael are extremely knowledgeable about the area. They have quite a collection of menus from various restaurants along with all kinds of brochures highlighting things to see and do in the area.

We stayed in the Roma room which was very nice. It's basically a large room with queen bed and small living room area. The bathroom and jacuzzi are off the bedroom. The walk-in shower was wonderful. Never ending supply of hot water too! We only used the jacuzzi one time since we were gone quite a bit. Tip: You cannot use the jacuzzi past 10:30 pm due to the sound of the jets. The room was very clean and the girls kept it spotless during our stay. The only thing we noticed was a mildewy smell in the room which my relatives noticed too when visiting. We speculated that maybe there was a water leak at one time. Also, the carpeting in the room needs to be steamed cleaned in a few places.

You won't go hungry when it comes time for breakfast. You basically get to choose from 2 breakfasts along with many options for beverages, fruit, granola and yogurt. The breakfasts were delicious as was the coffee. We had breakfast in our room one morning but really preferred the dining room especially when the fireplace was lit. When breakfast arrived in the room, it was more on the lukewarm side than hot. It's hard to keep food hot when traveling any distance from the kitchen. Tip: The coffee maker in the room makes a terrible cup of coffee. Not sure why. Barb and Michael make great coffee so no need to even use the in-room coffee maker. You will find a menu in your room for breakfast the day before to make your selections and also to indicate where you want your breakfast served and the time (8:30, 9, 9:30). You simply drop it off on the dining room table the evening before.

In the afternoon there are cookies and pastries as well as liquors placed in the dining room for guests. The cookies and pastries are scrumptous, especially the chocolate chocolate chip and the lemon filled pastry cup. They are usually left out for a few hours in case you need a little something sweet at night.

The wifi in the room works great and there's a computer and printer in dining room so you can print off boarding passes, etc. The tv is tucked away in a cabinet (very nice touch) and has hundreds of channels (which we could never get the hang of finding what we normally watch).

There is a small outside refrigerator stocked with bottled water, some soda and a few bottles of beer and malt beverages for all guests to enjoy. There's also a pool (was closed for the season) and hot tub (we didn't use but could have if we wanted).

We had a very nice stay and would recommended the Villa for those looking for more of an intimate atmosphere of a B&B.

We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay with us. We look forward to hosting you another time. We are grateful for the detail and specificity of your comments. We are committed to improving the quality of guest experience at every level.

The entire bathroom in the room you stayed in was remodeled this year with careful attention. It is gratifying to learn you noted the enhanced features. It is true, that the carpet was scheduled to be replaced directly after the bathroom renovation, and the timing of the season was such that it could not be accomplished in time. We will be pleased to know new carpet has been installed in that room and others, now that we are off-season. In addition, any midlew problems, which may occur in a coastal property, have been addressed as well.

Meal room service is also an amenity we pride ourselves in offereing. If the temperature of the meal items is not to your liking, we encourage guests to notify the kitchen immediately, and we will quickly rectify this. The privacy of this service is an important added luxury.

We are so fortunate to have been spared any extensive Hurricane Sandy damage. So much so, that we have been able to assist in relief efforts for the beach and have offered lodging to evacuees and other property owners. All systems are engaged to have our beach restored by the upcoming summer season. We would proudly welcome you back!

We arrived an hour and a half before check-in, in the rain, and were warmly greeted by Barbara - no problem with our being early, our room (Verona) was ready and she was just putting out snacks and aperitifs. Our room was very comfortable and capacious, including jacuzzi (there is an outdoor hottub, too) and fireplace. Bathroom had lots of nice amenities and plenty of towels, tissues, make-up remover, etc. We made ourselves very comfortable in the sitting area and read uninterrupted for 3 hours - what a luxury! Barbara gave us an excellent dinner recommendation, Ella's in Westerly. Best of all, we were given a checklist of broad breakfast choices to drop off at the front desk when we went to dinner. It included blueberry waffles and eggs benedict, but we are constantly struggling with our weight and so were happy to be able to choose granola (delicious) with lots of fresh fruit and yogurt instead. You can also choose among 4 times to have breakfast, and you can have it brought to your room or served in the main dining room with other guests (this is more enjoyable). We didn't get to sit in the garden because of the wet weather, but it is quite beautiful. Overall, I can't think of a better B&B we have ever stayed in.

Room Tip: We liked Verona because it is in a separate building a few yards away from the main house and has a...

We have stayed here at The Villa twice now. Wonderful! Well worth the price of admission. The quality is very consistent. Michael and Barbara are the best of hosts and know the reign very well, helping with restaurant offerings and great suggestions for activities. Within twenty minutes in three directions you will find tons of fun, including great golf, casinos, beaches, shops and wonderful restaurants. The staff is bright, cheerful and very accommodating. The uniqueness of the rooms is a delight and makes one want to return many times to try them all out. I won’t pick a favorite because they are all perfect for different settings. And now the best of all, breakfast! Michael and his staff will prepare and deliver the finest breakfasts you will ever enjoy, anywhere! In your room, by the pool, or in the dining room, you will not be disappointed in the daily offerings. Worth the trip just to have the breakfast. Michael, thank you for the pulled pork, poached egg extravaganza you prepared for a second year in a row. Simply the best, in thirty years of travel.

Room Tip: Roma is very beach like and bright Groto is very convenient and has an awsome bath room Cielo is v...

Just got back from our first stay at The Villa and we would definitely go back. The setting is serene and lovely and our room was spacious and very well appointed (we stayed in The Verona). Barbara and Michael are wonderful hosts. Barbara knows the area well and pointed us towards our most memorable dinner there at the nearby Ella's. Michael's homemade breakfasts were superb, both delivered to our balcony and enjoyed poolside. We loved their entire staff and on our last day, we found ourselves wanting to lounge by the pool rather than fighting the crowds at the beach. Westerly/Watch Hill has been a favorite area of mine for years and I'm so happy that we found this beautiful place to stay.

Room Tip: The Verona is set apart from the main house with a balcony and large jacuzzi tub and offers more pri...

this year we went back to The Villa for our 26th Anniversary, for 6 days, 5 nites. It was spectacular! Each morning the breakfast was worth taking pictures of (see my pix). Delicious and plentiful. The atmosphere is romantic, secluded, quiet, elegant and just plain wonderful. I cought a cold in the middle of the week, so we just stayed by the pool - gee poor us :) instead of trekking to the beach. I rested, the innkeeper came by to chat and it was just lovely. The rooms are marvelous. We had to change rooms on the last nite, but all I did was pack up, which I had to do anyhow, and separate what we needed, then the fabulous girls they have working for them there, put everything in our new room....The Cielo. Our first room was The Verona which we stayed in last year....I love the balcony over the carriage house. The Cielo is in the main building, and what a room. My husband liked it even better. We WILL go back and I can't wait.

Room Tip: No fitness center, but it did have a pool, which is a big plus for me. Most B&Bs don't.

This was our second visit--we first stayed at the Villa in the summer of 2011--and our experience once again rated two thumbs up. The grounds are beautiful, the rooms are very nice, the hosts--Michael and Barbara--are both very friendly and informative, and, last, but not least, the gourmet breakfasts are the equivalent of anything you would find at a brunch at a top restaurant. They serve the breakfasts poolside if you prefer and it's such a relaxing way to start the day. The inn is convenient to both the local beaches and downtown Watch Hill. As a bonus, Michael and Barbara have a refrigerator poolside stocked with beer and bottled water that guests are free to use anytime, and, in the late afternoon, put out a tray of desserts and liqueur.

My husband & I celebrated our 10th Anniversary last weekend at THE VILLA. Upon arriving, we noticed how beautiful the gardens, the setting, and the pool were. Barbara, the innkeeper welcomed us. She was very nice and very informative. She brought us to our room, showed us where everything was both inside and out. The rooms were well appointed with a spacious bathroom, very clean. Breakfast was served both mornings which was cooked by her hubby Michael. Great choices and delicious!!!!!!. It was so peaceful, we opted to stay by the pool and enjoy our surroundings instead of going to the beach. All of their employees were very friendly and helpful. We would definitely go back.
