“Great service and stellar location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 2, 2013

We have stayed at Ocean House on five occasions and make a point of visiting at least once per year. The location is breathtaking and the beach in summer months is great, with nice wave activity (we enjoy jumping around in the water), although the sand does get crowded given limited space. The rooms are in excellent condition, which is to be expected of a property that was fully renovated only a few years ago, and it is a very easy (but not short, especially in traffic) from New York on I-95. Our only critique is the restaurant situation, with the maitre'd at Seasons not always placed at the entrance, which can make finding help for a table a bit difficult - not a major complaint, but something that we consistently notice. The bar is really nice and a great destination for a drink before or after dinner.

One of our favorite spots.

Loved our night at this state of the art hotel on a pristine ocean near gorgeous homes, coves and sites. The wine tasting, tour and surrounds were wonderful. Lap pool and steam shower are must do activities. Pristine in beauty, ambiance and cleanliness. Certainly will do again but for a longer stay next time. A drop pricey though

Room Tip: Our lowest priced room was perfect

We were looking to book a weekend at the beach with our kids. I had done some research and the Ocean House looked lovely, grand, just the sort of thing we would love. Well, the reservationist was so snide, so condescending, so i-dont-have-time-for-you, that I was so totall turned off. I got off the phone and looked at my husband in such surprise. I couldn't believe that a hotel that charge upwards of $1,000 a night has that kind of attitude. We decided not to go, and wont ever go.

I sincerely apologize for your experience. At the Ocean House, we fully believe our status as a Five-Star, luxury hotel is dependent on the service of our staff. The experience you had is not at all what is typically of our team and we would like to make it right. If you’d like to reach out to Communications@OceanHouseRI.com, we’d be happy to help book your vacation and welcome you to the property so that you can get a proper impression of our staff and hotel.

We had lunch on the porch of this beautifully rebuilt classic Victorian hotel on the ocean in Watch Hill RI. Lunch was elegantly served but not inexpensive. The food was quite good. Walk around the interior space to get a feeling for the history. This is not a renovated hotel, but rather a complete reconstruction in 2010.

I am happy to hear you enjoyed your visit! Unfortunately, while the original structure of the Ocean House was not salvageable, there were more than 5,000 artifacts from the old hotel that we were able to save and incorporate into the current structure. From the old elevator interior and phone booth to the front desk and stone fireplace, the Ocean House is full of history and it’s wonderful to know you were able to get a sense of that during your visit with us.

Excellent summer experience. Clambake on the beach - elegant & fun with exceptional service & all-you-can eat lobsters. We have gone 3 summers to enjoy this experience. There is a little live music & buffet style food.

We’re delighted that you enjoyed our Clambake over the summer. As one of our most popular events, we’re excited to be changing things up a little this coming summer and will be having our Lobster Boil & BBQ three days a week! We look forward to welcoming you back next summer.

We travel quite a bit and the Ocean House is one of the nicest hotels we have stayed. It is located on the Atlantic Ocean in Watch Hill, a charming small town in Rhode Island. The view of the ocean is breathtaking. The staff was delightful, the hotel room beautiful and the linens and mattresses superb. We enjoyed a tasty dinner in the restaurant. Ask for a good explanation on the breakfast pricing, package versus regular menu. It was confusing and very pricey.

Yes, it is very expensive. And if you are going to worry about what you're going to spend here you should find a different place to stay. But if you want a truly exceptional southern New England beach experience then you need to put this on your bucket list. There were so many little details that make this place special. I know how much hard work goes into making something appear effortless and this hotel does a great job in this regard. The room- king with a terrace was terrific. Love those high thread count bed linens. Views are spectacular. We had two memorable sunsets to enjoy. Ate all our meals on property and the food was very, very good. Unlike a previous reviewer we were pleasantly surprised by the variety of gluten free offerings. The Sunday brunch was among the best we've ever experienced. The beach. Well it's a great beach. The whole place is worthy of the accolades and 5 star reviews. Will we go back. Oh yes. It's so pricey that people in our income bracket will have to save up for a special occasion, but it's a special occasion worthy place and we will enjoy another special occasion as soon as we can. One last amusing note- I needed some sunscreen and the gift shop was out as it was the end of the season so I went to the spa and they had a fancy mineral sunscreen available. I asked the attendant at the spa to not allow me to see the price because I knew it was going to be expensive. I'm glad I didn't see the price until I got my bill at checkout because I about fell over when I saw what it cost. Next time I'll stay under an umbrella if I forget my sunscreen.
