The new NYLO in Warwick, RI is like finding a really good book. The "cover" catches your eye on the shelf, so to speak -- meaning that the exterior of the hotel is a wonderfully restored new england mill (part of the Pontiac Mill complex) that you just have to admire and want to dive into - and then the "story" (your stay) immerses you in a fun and refreshing experience!
The architecture is pure eye candy in and out. The entire hotel is decorated in European/Scandinavian "fun" with bubble chairs hanging from the high ceiling and inlaid wood floor crossing the lobby mill concrete. I spent most of the evening with friends in the "Loft" (the general restaurant/bar area) where we played pool, had drinks, and just relaxed in one of the many nooks that were lit with ambient candle lighting.
The decor in the room was just as wonderfull with a curved opaque glass shower wall making for a unique and pleasing configuration in the room. The high ceilings were true to the original mill and remained uncovered. The large window behind the bed made the room airy and bright.
The view out the window overlooking the river with its tree-lined bank, waterfall, and bridge was refreshing!! Especially when you consider that you are right on the edge of conveninent shopping and dining - you can even walk across the street to the Warwick Mall!
The bed itself was one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in with a european style fluffy duvet and very comfortable pillows! The shower had a rainforest-type shower head as well as a hand-held option with various massage settings - all with wonderful water pressure!
Other room amenities included a desk, sofa, high def TV visible from sofa and bed, very fluffy and soft towels, great hair dryer, large note pads, and a writing lap-top desk for use for work or eating in bed, along with the usual amenities.
The restaurant seemed to have a limited menu and seating, but all food was superb and reasonably priced.
All staff was absolutely wonderful, nice, and personable.
Overall, a very enjoyable stay. I left the hotel refreshed and ready to face my day.
