“Nice lunch”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 22, 2012

We had hoped to eat lunch at sunnyside (see my other review) but they were closed on Mondays, so we stopped at Stella Blues. Turns out that this is the superior choice for food.
We ate outside on a stunning day - it was an early lunch (around 11:45) and on a Monday so we were not surprised that they were not busy (the pizza/sandwich place across the street had plenty of business tho).
Lunch was tasty and reasonably priced - and the service was attentive (we had our water glasses refilled).
I had the shimp scampi - just wasn't in the mood for a sandwich or salad. This was tasty and came with garlic bread, though it was served on spaghetti and not the pasta listed on the menu - with 7 reasonably sized shrimp. The shrimp were fresh - had that nice crisp texture that tells you... My husband had the Monte Cristo sandwich with fries - he said it was good too.

“Informal, comfortable local restaurant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 29, 2012

You can comfortably sit at the bar and watch TV, sit outside in good weather, enjoy the air conditioned/heated porch or the cozy dining area while dining from a varied menu. There are many choices of well prepared, reasonably priced food. Seafood and fish are appropriate good choices in this waterfront community and the weekend roast beef dinners are a great buy.

“Comfortable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 15, 2012

It's a nice combo place: Gritty bar where you can watch the Sox; and a nice neighborhood restaurant that's perfect (and reasonably priced) for an outdoor summer meal. I had the crab-stuffed shrimp. Great.

“Dinner for two”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 14, 2012

We went to Stella Blues without a reservation on Mother's Day. Since we came around 7 pm there was a table for two available. Service was very good - the waitress was very nice, personable, and efficient. The bar tender would also come out from behind the bar to make sure everything was OK. Their menu was short but covered all the bases. In fact, for me short menus are better than long ones - you can order quickly and get your food fast. Bread was not worth the calories. Clam chowder was very good and portions were big. Fried squid appetizer was large but too greasy. Swordfish (recommended by the waitress) was excellent. Prices are very reasonable.

“Appetizers are plenty for lunch!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 16, 2011

Visiting Warren and the mood for a lunch of calamari, we called around Warren to see who had it on the menu. Stella Blues was suggested.

Arriving about one on a Thursday afternoon, there were still a few patrons finishing dessert, with left overs in take away boxes ready to go. A pellet stove whirred away with a cheerful, warm flame.

Beer selection was good, but few were actually available as it was change the keg/clean the taps day. Our server was attentive and helpful and our two Smithwicks and one glass of champagne arrived quickly.

We only ordered from the appetizer menu: 2 orders of calamari, one of fried oysters, and one of steamed clams. All arrived at once and we decided to hold the clams until finishing the fried items, which was a mistake. By the time we got to the clams, they were just a bit overcooked, but with great, fresh flavor. The buttery liquid was excellent, with all the right flavors.

Fried oysters were excellent. Properly cooked, crispy outside and moist and tasty inside.

Calamari, inexplicably, were not as expertly fried as there was more than a hint of oil remaining from the frying. Yellow peppers were tossed in after frying and added a great spicy kick, but not too much. Portions of calamari were quite generous and three of us could not finish all four dishes.

Tab was about $60 or $20 per person.
