The only thing that would make Markos more perfect... would be if it were on the oceanfront with outdoor seating.
Well, not really... because then their rent and prices would double.
They are perfect where they are, just 1.5 blocks from the Narragansett Ocean Wall.
Lunch or dinner are both great gastronomic experiences here though for dinner, if you like, you can enhance your experience by taking a nice wine or beer 6-pack. They have the glasses and stemware.
Seating is limited, so you have to be strategic in terms of when you go. In peak summer, you may not find a table at the time you want to go.
But the food... is fab.
A good start is the vegetarian appetizer platter for 2 or 4. You get a really nice combo of tabbouleh, homos, baba ghanouj, felafel, great sliced veggies, and a generous basket of wedges of flat bread.
When I go, I usually follow up the appetizer platter with some great skewered kabobs: lamb, chicken (couple of different marinades), shrimp and more are on offer. These are great with rice, and they also have good bean dishes for sides or for main courses if you like. There are many other great dishes, and you probably would hit the mark with any choice. They have soups and stews also.
At lunch, you can have wraps with the same kabobs, or felafel, or other fillings. The homemade lemonade goes well with these dishes during lunch.
You can round out your meal with a piece of delish baklava and, if you like, some mint tea or arabic coffee.
The owner and the staff are friendly - this is just a great meal experience. No fancy decor (it's nice, but not opulent).... just good food.
