Summer in New England has to include a visit to a clam shack, and Iggy's Doughboys and Chowder House in Narragansett is one that fits the bill. We visit Iggy's for typically two things: fried clams and their delicious clam cakes. The latter are especially good with clam chowder, which we make at home. The fried clams (whole bellies) are always good. Nice and crispy with a light batter.
It can get quite crowded on nice summer days, especially on weekends, and you typically have to put in your order and stand outside and wait for your number to be called. We always do take-out, but they do have a small indoor area and picnic benches outside.
