“fantastic”

My husband booked the room, something he normally does not do. He went to tripadvisior web site to take a peek at the hotels he was looking at. He was looking at the high end places and saw the negative reviews, he looked at the Anchor Motel, a more modest place with great reviews and thought it would be a good choice, he was right. A tiny place, great management, clean and right across from the beach. A great place to stay, relaxing. Give it a try, I am glad we did. We will go back.

Very cute and clean.Very conveniant to the block island ferry.Nice view of the ocean-right acroos from the motel!Inexpensive.Nice coffee and donuts breakfeast in the morning.A few downs-despite the fact that it is a non-smoking motel it still smells like smoke....You dont get a lot of privacy-the rooms are all clustered into one row...You can hear people blabbering late night on.If you are looking for a small relaxing ocean getaway this is the place for it....

“Great Basic Beach Motel Near BI Ferry”

This is a great, basic beach motel that's a mile or two away from the Block Island ferry. I stayed here overnight to catch the early morning ferry, and found it very convenient. The motel itself is pretty basic, nothing fancy, but very well maintained & clean. And you can't beat the location -- just across the street from the beach. Recommended.

“A Great Place to Relax”

Anchor Motel

Enjoyed a 4-day stay at the Anchor Motel during the first week in September, 2007, which I found to be exceptionally clean and cozy. The owners were very friendly and helpful. The motel is located just across the street form Scarborough Beach, which was outstanding! A 5 minute drive from downtown Narragansett and conveniently located near some great restaurants, I found this a great place to relax, whether reading a book on the small deck or strolling the beach. Looking forward to my next trip!

I am giving this hotel only 3 stars because compared to others I have
stayed at, it is truly Very Basic. Just the bare minimum of towels and they are paper thin and rough to the touch. The rooms are small and face toward the parking lot so when cars drive in, their headlights blare into your room. However, despite these drawbacks, I found my overall stay to be quite pleasant.

It is mere steps from Scarborough Beach which is one of the best beaches I've ever been to. The motel is fairly quiet at night. The owner is quite nice and the room was clean. All of the other guests were very friendly and one night we even got serenaded by a small trio of musicians in the room next door who were playing acoustic versions of older (90's) rock hits. Very pleasant.

Also, we were surprised to find a small refrigerator in our room. We
had to plug it in (the owner obviously keeps it unplugged to save on electricity) but so what. For such a basic motel, one wouldn't expect to find a refrigerator in the room.

There is also a small continental breakfast offered in the office area which we did not take advantage of.

Overall, we (my husband, myself and small son) enjoyed our stay at the Anchor Motel. We will definitely stay again but will request Rooms 1 - 5 which face toward the ocean. We were facing both streets (the hotel is located at a crossroad) and as a result, we got more headlight traffic than Rooms 1 - 5 get.
