“Friendly staff, average hotel, good location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 14, 2012

My family was recently in Narragansett for a wedding and stayed at the Village Inn. The location is very close to the shore and to the Towers at Narragansett Pier, which is where the wedding took place, so it was very convenient and accessible. Very easy to step out and go for a walk along the beach, and there are some shops just behind the hotel.

The staff was friendly and helpful at check-in and check-out.

It's definitely more of a motel and is past its glory days, whenever those might have been. It feels a little tattered and torn, but is perfectly adequate in terms of basic needs at a reasonable price. The rooms are compact and the breakfast is a simple, continental one.

“Great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012 via mobile

My husband and I stayed here to celebrate our anniversary. The rooms are ok...we stayed in a room with a balcony. The hotel is dated but the staff was very friendly and accommodating. The free breakfast was perfect for a light meal. The hotel is within walking distance to shops and restaurants.

“Nice location, ok room”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2012

We stayed in this hotel when visiting Narragansett for a wedding. The location can't be beat! It is directly across from the ocean. We were able to drink our coffee/tea every morning watching the waves, on a bench by the beach. Parking was easy, and there were a few places you could walk to for lunch or breakfast. The room was just ok. It was odd shaped and on the smaller side, even though we booked a full ocean view room. The bathroom was tiny, as was the "balcony." The lighting was poor and the room was as clean as we would have liked. If you want breakfast, skip the continental breakfast they offer in this hotel. The front desk staff was friendly, and at one point they were baking awesome smelling chocolate chip cookies in their lobby (which by the way, was tiny). For the price, you might want to check out a nearby bed and breakfast. For our purposes that weekend, we needed a bed, not to spend time in the room. We enjoyed the location, not the room.

“Needs a deep cleaning”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 19, 2012

We were so excited to be able to stay so close to Ocean Drive in Narragansett and to be able to see the ocean from our balcony. The location is great, but I don't understand why the owner doesn't spend some bucks to spruce up the place. First of all, as soon as you enter the lobby, the smell hits you. The only way I can describe the smell is a combination of cleaners and vomit. It was awful! The layout of our room was good. We had a nice sitting area that looked out to the ocean as well as a balcony with a good ocean view. However the room was dirty and the carpet needed either a deep cleaning or to be replaced altogether. The bedspeads were dated and I felt uncomfortable sitting on them because they looked dirty, so I pulled them off before laying on the bed. We stayed several days and the housekeeping person told my husband that we would get new towels but we would have to make the beds. Two of the days we stayed there, the manager was working the breakfast area and emptying garbage. The breakfast was fair. It wasn't until the third day did we see a person working the breakfast area and she offered us hot waffles. The waffle maker was not out and available for us to make our own. We won't stay there again but it's too bad, this place could be wonderful if it just got a facelift.

Room Tip: Asked for roon with a FULL ocean view

“Not the Ritz but a helluva view.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 29, 2012 via mobile

ROOM - booked the ocean view room for an extra $40 per night. Spectacular view. The room had a kitchenette, large bathroom, tiny balcony & plenty of living space. The whirlpool tub did not work properly but a maintenance man repaired it the second day. Be aware there is an outdoor bar & restaurant directly below the ocean view rooms. Although the bar closes at 1am, we were able to hear conversations amongst the bar crowd. Cigarette smoke rises up & the ocean breeze carries it into your room. If you don't mind the noise, pay the extra cash for the sunrise.
STAFF - the young lady (Erin) I booked the stay with was wonderful answering all my questions & assisting w/directions. Room service was casual but on the ball. Bar staff was friendly & went out of their way to help me. GM was very personable. Good job.

Overall I would return. The inn is located a short walk from the beach & some nice restaurants. MUST eat breakfast at Crazy Burger.
