“Excellent Service, Great Food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 28, 2012

The Winnapaug Inn is the best choice for a hotel in the Westerly,Misquamicut area. The rooms are large and clean. The staff is friendly and very accomodating. We visited other hotels and inns in the area, none were as reasonably priced and offered as much as the Winnepaug Inn.
The Venice Restaurant is next door and owned by the same family was incredible, the staff treated us like we were thier best patrons and the place was packed. We are already planning a trip back just for the food and service! Thank you Lou and Nunzio.

I stayed here with my mom, sister, niece and two children. It was a big let down as our first introduction was a sour-faced guy working at the reception who did not greet us with a smile or enthusiasm. It was not what we expected - the owners were always nosing around making sure their guests were following all the rules listed on signs everywhere throughout the place. Breakfast was disappointing. A little more effort and it could have been acceptable. I will NEVER go back as it was a waste of my money and time and I work too hard for my money and I have so LITTLE time.

Winnapaug Inn strives to provide wonderful accommodations for its guests. There are not lists of rules located throughout the property. The staff at Winnapaug Inn is concerned about the safety of its guests and frequently monitors the property to ensure that all guests are provided for comfortably.

we recently stayed here two night for a nearby wedding. the staff was the most unfriendly i have every encountered ever. i felt like i was playing 20 questions every time we had to deal with them. very short and terse with everyone. not sure how they stay in business. the beds had what felt like a rubber mat under the sheet and was hot, and the bedding was old. rooms were spacious but nothing special. the breakfast was a joke. coffee, frozen juice that was put in the same leftover container every day and just put in a container of ice to keep cold. cheap pasties and eng. muffins. for just a few dollars they could have done a really nice job.

Room Tip: not near the beach at all, you have to drive several miles, there is a large yard for sunning if the...

Winnapaug Inn stives to provide quality accomodations and service to its guests. The bedding in the guest rooms were recently replaced and have mattress protectors on them. The continental breakfast consists of freshly baked muffins, english muffins, fruit, cereal, coffee, tea and juice. Winnapaug Inn is located in a quiet scenic area and the beach where parking is provided for guests is only 1.5 miles away.

Wish I would've been here for fun. Unfortunately, it was a very quick business-trip-type visit. This hotel is great for vacationers, less great for business purposes, a factor I blame more on our corporate travel department more than the hotel. Located in a scenic area, the property is "older," to put it politely. They do have wireless internet and a computer in the lobby, but don't count on being able to print anything out. Because of corporate travel policies, transportation is always an issue for us, and cab service seems spotty and undependable, especially during off-season. We depended on the kindness of strangers to transport us to and from our job site. Kind of humiliating to have to operate that way, but thank goodness for Rhode Island friendliness. The front desk clerk loaded us up in his car and took time out of his day to take us to work. Thank you very much. By the way, they do serve a continental breakfast in the morning. There's a very nice restaurant/bar & grill right next door. My rating of this hotel is based on its suitably for a business traveler. If you're on vacation, I recommend the place highly.

Room Tip: An older place with thin walls. If you need a good night's sleep, try to get an upstairs room f...

Just returned from a one week stay at the Winnapaug Inn. We orginally booked a four day stay; but we were so pleased with the Inn that we extended three more days. The owners (Antonio and Anna), and their two grown children (Maria and Nunzio), operate the Inn and adjoining Venice restaurant. Upon entering the suite, I was surprised to see how large the living area and bedroom were. The bathroom is also good size, looks new, and has a large jacuzzi tub. During our stay, I had an opportunity to chat with the owners and their family who work throughout the day at the Inn, on the beautiful grounds, and in their restaurant. They were all very friendly and helpful. If you have any questions or concerns, see Maria at the office and she will assist you and help in any way possible. As far as dining goes, we planned on eating at the Venice restaurant once during our stay. It was so good, after our first meal that we ate their two more times, including a meal in their sky view bar situated at the top of the restaurant. The bar has a glass wall surround looking out over the large salt water pond, and ocean beyond. Kate, handles the bar and dinner table with ease. You can order from the bar menu, or get items from the full dinner or lunch menu. As for the restuarant down stairs, it has a beautiful decor with "excellent" food and service to accompany it. The waitstaff work as a team, making the service flawless. We had Ben, Ed, and Patrick. All very friendly and professional. I had the veal parma and pasta, and my wife had a pasta dish with vodka. The veal was more than ample size, very thick and I could cut it with a fork. One of the best I had in years, and I order veal very frequently. In the morning you don't want to miss the continental breakfast on the first floor of the Inn. Anna brings fresh muffins, fruits, cereals, and they serve Douwe Ekbert coffee.
It was a terrific week..............Bravo to the DiMarco family...............Job well done!!!!

Due to some reviews, I was a bit apprehensive, but boy were we surprised how wonderful it was! We loved it! The rooms were large & spacious (Deluxe Queen Room) which overlooked the little golf course. The whole place was clean as a whistle! The heated pool was so much fun at the end of the sandy day at the beach. And on the Tuesday that we checked in, they offered a FREE poolside bbq!!! It is a mile from the main beaches, clean, quiet, and very affordable ($200/night including 2 kids).
While we loved the place, and will definately be back every year, but there were some minor cons which we wish they would accomodate. 1. there is no coin operated laundry - so bring enough towels & beachware for your stay. Towels from the beach do not dry completely by hanging them out on the terrace. 2. the beds are really uncomfortable - flimsey and thin. Bring your own lines if you like fabric softener. Next year, i will be bringing less regular clothes and extra linens, towels & bathing suits.

Room Tip: we had second floor, it was great. there is an elevator.

I took my mom who is a senior citizen and my 16 year old daughter. We loved the pool and the fact that our room overlooked the gold course ( ask for a room in the back). we even saw a coyote walk on the course. The hotel has a nice simple free bar ba que on Tuesday nights and they gave us a beach pass for the beachj which is about a mile away. My daughter would have preferred eggs for the free breakfast, but the english muffins and bagels were fine for me. Overall, we also went to Newport and the Foxwoods casino, so the location was perfect.
