“Holiday Stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 27, 2012

Stayed at this hotel during the Thanksgiving 2012 Holiday, about six nights. Great location, within walking distance to Easton Beach and numerous nice restaurants and bars. Room was a Suite, did not have a sink, but did have a refrigerator, microwave. Room was very good size, TV was dated and very old, but worked. Bed was comfortable and the bathroom was also very nice. The housekeeping staff that attended to my room was outstanding. Some areas of the room needed a little attention. Wallpaper was peeling, fabric chairs stained, needed cleaning. Free parking, area seemed well lit and safe. Hotel was fairly large, but only had three floors, one ice machine, one elevator. Not a very good breakfast, so plan on going out. Check in/out was pleasant with friendly staffs. In short, great location, comfortable room, walking distance to the beach, seemingly safe environment/neighborhood.

Room Tip: Pond Side had nice views and seemed more private.

The positives are that the room was spacious, parking was free, and there was a view, although out of tiny, tiny windows. Otherwise, this place is more in line with a Motel 6 than, say a Comfort Inn. The towels were flimsy, the safe did not work, the lighting was very poor, the maid did not refresh soaps and 6oz plastic cups, even when they were needed (had to go to the cart ourselves), the "breakfast" was an old style continental rather than what you can get almost everywhere else and in general you could tell the management was instructed to save every dime available. There is a Comfort Inn right across the street. Try that instead.

Room Tip: There are many different faces to the views, so make sure you get one.

Stayed at the Atlantic Beach Hotel from Thursday to Sunday of Labor Day weekend. It was a perfect location. Only a short 1.5 miles drive into Newport Harbor but steps away from a large beautiful beach. My boyfriend and I loved the location. There are a couple restaurants within walking distance, most notably Flo's Clam Shack which was right across the street. The beach across the street, is clean and BIG! No parking fees b/c you are parked at the hotel - typically parking is $20/day.
The King Suite was clean and spacious. The furniture was a bit dated; the bed linens were nicer than standard fare linens. Our room location was quiet. We had a front view of the ocean and the rear view from the bedroom was overlooking a large pond. Had we been in our rooms, we could have viewed the sunset from the bedroom.
I would stay there again especially b/c it was a good value for a summer Hoilday weekend.

Room Tip: I would suggest requesting a room away from the elevator area- especially on the lobby floor b/c the...

Got a great price on my stay and the location is very nice. however for a seaside location the rooms are dark and heavy and not reflective of the lovely location. They are old and tired. On first look, could not tell if the room was clean or not because the decor was just so old.
If you are going to equip a room with a fridge and a microwave, it would only suffice to have a small table and chairs to sit on while eating what I just heated in my microwave. The continental breakfast is fine, but the management may want to think of reconfiguring the lobby to better accomodate the guests and not make it so awkward to gather some coffee and cereal. Also a garbage pail at each station would be useful The trays were dirty - probably better off in getting disposable trays as I am sure there are no facilities to ensure a sanitized tray.
Desk staff was very friendly and helful-- Extremely large desk area and office for staff - while guests are cramped in the dark lobby juggling their coffees - again a reconfigure of the lobby area to greet guests is much needed.

it has really seen better days. My family and I stay here ever year for the past 5 years and next year we will be moving onto another hotel other than this one unless major updates and renovations take place... The location is AWESOME and it used to be the quality Inn (choice hotel chain) prior to this year, but changed to Atlantic Beach Hotel & Suites. Wow it has really gone down hill. The front desk staff is always very helpful, but the overall hotel has become very dirty and run down. The ice machine was broken and you had to go to the front desk to get ice. The hall way door on our level leading to our hotel rooms was broken with the broken piece of the door just sitting on the window for the duration of our stay. The furniture in our rooms and parents rooms were very grimy and dirty... We refused to sit on the furniture because it was very dirty and stained... GROSS!!! all the furniture needs to be removed and replaced... Carpeting in both of our rooms were also very dirty and weathered and need to be replaced. The beds however were very comfortable...They used to allow you to eat breakfast across the street at the Comfort Inn, but now have replaced it with a very questionable breakfast... We always skipped the breakfast option because there are so many other great places to eat in the area. It really is too bad we love this hotel, but it has seen better days... I hope ownership takes a hard look at making some major renovations in the off season otherwise we will not be back...

For $400.00 a night you'd think they would serve a decent breakfast let alone have a place for you sit and eat it. Two small tables had old muffins, some sort of egg "hot pocket" and coffee. The hallways to the room smelled of dirty diapers. Slowest elevator. Pool in sister hotel had broken tiles, ceiling was leaking into the pool, piles of dirty towels and every plant in there was brown and dyinh. I wouldnt let my dog swim in that pool. We were told the room had 'water views" which ended up being water views of a swamp. The room itself was large and decent. Hotel staff was very helpful. One block away from the beach.
