“Clean, great staff and pet friendly!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 16, 2011

We were traveling to Newport with our family and dog, so our hotel choices were limited. After reading positive reviews about this Hampton Inn we booked it- and we are so happy we did. It is a very easy and short drive to downtown Newport, so the location is very good. Our dog was greeted by the front desk staff with a small bag of treats and we were given a list of pet friendly businesses in Newport- very helpful!

Our room was VERY clean, did not smell at all (which is a worry when you stay in a pet friendly room!) and we were given a small fridge and microwave, which was a big bonus. The beds were comfy, bathrooms were clean and water pressure good. We had sliding glass doors that lead out to a grassy area, which made taking our dog out very easy.

The one thing I wish they had was an outdoor pool, but other than that this Hampton Inn is a great value and a great stay!

Stayed at the Hampton Inn last month. Really surprised at what a nice hotel it was. We had a suite. Great price. Clean and spacious room. 1 bedroom with french doors opening up to a living area. Customer service great. Included a really nice breakfast - alot of options to choose from. Less than 10 minute drive to downtown newport. Easy to get to. I never stayed at the Hampton Inn before and would definitely stay here again. Highly recommend.

Clean throughout, quiet, efficient staff, everything worked in the room - AC, TV, hot shower, alarm clock etc. (I didn't try the internet connection.) King room was spacious. Comfy bed. Ample parking. Good location - Applebee's is across the parking lot, and downtown Newport is a few minutes away, depending on traffic. Plenty of grocery stores, packies, restaurants, drugstores, fast food, etc. nearby.

When I checked in, the desk clerk read off my reservation, "1 night, king, non-smoking..." I had forgotten to check if it was a non-smoking property, because I won't stay in a hotel that allows smoking anywhere indoors if I can help it. So I don't know if this is a non-smoking hotel or not, but there wasn't one faint odor of smoke.

A nice Hampton and I will go back, whether it's business or leisure.

We booked the last room in all of Newport area here for the Jazz Festival and did not really know what to expect. And we were pleasantly surprised.
This hotel was fabulous...everything we needed, great service from the front desk never had to ask twice in fact they went out of their way to check if you needed anything and always with an easy smile. The front desk was very knowledgeable, housekeeping was perfect, the 2 elevators for 4 floors always seemed available. The location is very close to Newport even with the traffic it did not seem to be too much of a hassle getting across to Fort Adams State Park for the Festival.
The rooms were impeccable and had everything you needed, the beds were the best, the bathroom amenities could have been a better quality same with the towels, small inconvenience though.
Breakfast was the usual buffet great if you are traveling with kids, coffee was good, dining area bright and comfortable, volume was kept low on the TV which was on at the living room end. Just a very comfortable hotel for the weekend.

Stayed here for a business trip - hotel was very clean (my room smelled like vanilla when I walked in - how often does that happen when you stay at a hotel?) Nice color scheme, free breakfast every morning. It's within walking distance to several restaurants and a grocery store. Nice and close to NAVSTA if that's where you're headed (about a 10 minute drive). Quiet at night.

Free wifi and wired internet (for those of us trying to wrangle access with old school government computers).

And fresh cookies at the front desk! Yay!

We had the pleasure of staying last weekend and this hotel is great. We were in town for the Newport Folk Festival and this Hampton served as the ideal launching point. It's only a short drive, or Bus ride, from downtown. The rooms are spacious, clean, and very well appointed. The min-fridge is a nice touch and the free breakfast is has tons of options. Parking is also free, which is a hassle in town for sure.

Also check out the Chart House for food and Drinks and take the water taxi to the festival if you go. We did the folk festival but I hear the Jazz fest is just has fun.

Room Tip: Book early, this town gets busy

This hotel is just outside Newport - close enough to take advantage of everything Newport has to offer without the high Newport prices. The beds were extremely comfortable, the room was clean, and parking was free. The free, hot, breakfast every morning is a plus, also, along with a complimentary USA Today delivered right to the room every morning. If you don't want to go into Newport to eat, there are several nearby restaurants, including an Applebee's across the parking lot and the Newport Creamery ice cream parlor. I would stay here again.
