“Great Beach Hotel in Newport”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2014

This was our second stay at the Newport Beach Hotel and we already look forward to visit again. The location is awesome! Just a short walk across the street and you are right at the beach! We arrived early in the morning and spend the day at the beach until our rooms were ready. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. There are not that many hotels in Newport that are located close to the beach, so this is a real gem. It is also in walking distance to the Cliff Walk. Being there twice, I can say that rooms can vary in size and noise level, so if you have certain preferences, you may want to check before booking. We stayed twice at the Historic Building and the first time, our room was fairly small on the second floor facing the street/ocean - and yes, it was quite noisy. During our second stay, we've got a very large room at the 4th floor, also facing the street/ocean and we didn't hear the noise from the street at all. The room had 2 very large windows from which you can enjoy the panoramic ocean view. I can only disagree with the review complaining that the hotel is not clean - during both stays the rooms were super clean and updated. I particularly liked the bathrooms with beautiful granite countertops and marble tiles. One great thing we didn't use but I read about at the hotel brochure, you can rent beach cabanas at the hotel, which is great for everyone who does not arrive with beach chairs and umbrella.

Room Tip: If you stay at the historic building, the 4th floor ocean view rooms are quiet and the two queen bed...

We arrived without a reservation, the hotel was vacancy, but when they saw the pamphlet with discounts on hotels, one we take in the tourist stops or rest area, they told us that they haven't more rooms...cheap shot...99$ With the coupon or 384$ at their price.... Forget this place!

This is the second time that I used the Newport Beach Hotel and Suites. The first time I stayed in the main hotel with the restaurant and this visit I stayed in the one bedroom suite. Our family enjoyed the hotel. It is very family friendly, located across the street from the beach, a few minute walk to the cliff walk and minutes away from the restaurants. If you are visiting Newport on a family vacation, I would recommend staying in the suite side.

Room Tip: Stay on the suites side. It is new, more spacious, located above the parking, has the rooftop and po...

Thank you for being our guests at the Newport Beach Hotel and Suites and writing such a great review.

We are glad you enjoyed your stay in the suites building. The 26 suites in our suites building have water views, experienced through floor-to-ceiling windows and juliet balconies in the living room and master bedroom. Modern kitchens feature granite countertops, upscale stainless steel appliances, wood floors, and washer/dryers. Oversized baths contain walls of glass overlooking the water, floors, tub and shower surrounds finished in rich white Carrera marble, deep soaking whirlpool tubs, and residential wood vanities with granite tops.

We hope to see you again soon!

I stayed at the hotel in August 2013 during a business trip with my wife. We stayed in a room in the old building. Over all pleased. The room was clean with nice breeze and light.

Yes it is an old building. That comes with the territory in Newport. I believe that the owners/management have done well with what they have. If you require ultra modern and are willing to give up some privacy, go to the suites across the street.

If you are set on staying "on the beach" in Newport, this is your best option.

Stayed one night here in July and stayed a second night downtown in another hotel. This is a great location, as it's across the street from First Beach. Not many beachside hotels to pick from in Newport, so if you're looking for that, stay here. A good 20-25 minute walk to downtown though. Hotel was clean. Got a room in the historic building and it was fine. I didn't get an ocean view, but then again, I'm not looking to stay in the room when visiting newport! There's a roof deck jacuzzi and lounge area in the newer building, which we hung at after the beach. It overlooked the water and it was beautiful. Probably wouldn't stay here again due to the distance to downtown, but not a bad place. They do charge for parking too - $13 a day.

We selected the Historic Building since it seemed nice, but the photos on the web are misleading: they actually show the Suites building with water in front of it. The Historic Building is on the main street and so is noisy. On the whole, it is a good hotel but not exceptional. The restaurant/bar is quite small for such a large hotel and has a different management. The restaurant served a breakfast menu and is open for dinner, but not lunch. The dinner menu is small but well selected and the dish we had was tasty. Some good features: automatic doors when you enter, a guest washing machine and drier, nice jacuzzi and sun deck on the roof of the Suites. Not so good: in the Historic Building, some of the rooms are not well designed, for example the bathroom was small in ours. On balance, perfectly acceptable but a bit expensive..

Room Tip: Avoid the Ocean View rooms in the Historic Building since many of these are right on the main road a...

Thank you for your review of the Newport Beach Hotel & Suites. We appreciate guest feedback.

We do have a variety of room types at the hotel. The room type you reserved in our historic hotel was one of our smaller and most economical room types, however it is newly renovated and features new furniture, bedding with imported linens and duvets, 37” flat panel LCD televisions, MP3 players with iPod docking stations, new carpet, wallpaper, draperies, wood blinds, lighting and artwork. All of our rooms receive Direct TV with HD satellite programming. Bathrooms are furnished with white Carrera marble floors, wooden vanities with granite tops, modern lighting, new mirrors, and increased storage space for guest amenities. Next time when making your reservation, if you are looking for something specific, please provide this information to the reservationist in order to assist in selecting the best accommodations to meet all of your needs. Many of our guests find this particular room type to be a perfect fit because of its great value.

We hope that you will join us again at the Newport Beach Hotel & Suites.

We stayed at the Newport Beach Suites this past week and had a wonderful time. Very clean and so close to the beach and town. The room had a full kitchen, and two bedrooms with baths. There was a pool, that was crowded, and there was a washer and dryer in the room which was extremely useful when coming back from the beach.

Room Tip: Stay in the suites side of the hotel, the rooms have a washer and dryer and two bedrooms with their...
