“Another Italian American restaurant”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 13, 2014

La Rosa isn't good and it isn't bad. It's another Italian American restaurant in the Providence metropolitan area that many people (especially those who have not been to Italy or eaten in an authentic Italian, not Italian American, restaurant) would enjoy. The sauce at least is pretty good. The I guess nothing specifically jumped out at me to say that it's more than average. Would I go back? Probably not.

“Outstanding”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2013 via mobile

This was recommended to us. It was Nicole's before, now opened by Pat Orlando and I love this place. The sauce, or gravy as it's sometimes called in RI, was outstanding. The flavor was very rich, but not overbearing.
I had gnocchi in pink vodka sauce and my wife had eggplant with a red sauce.
We both loved our meals and will be back soon. Highly recommended.

“The owner should not talk to customers!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed September 28, 2013

If the service and the attitude of the owner, Pat, matched the food, WOW, what a restaurant this could be. They have the hard stuff done, great food. What they need to do is get some decent wait staff and keep Pat in the back. This guy has a miserable attitude. Was at a funeral service two months ago and it was awful. The food was great, but the service was just horrible. Wait staff huddled in the corner having conversations when customers are looking for service, and Pat just dismissing patrons looking for service. Plus, why would you have a room split for two funerals with just drapes separating the parties? Are you kidding me or what?
It's the simple and easy fixes that will kill this place, not the food.

“VERY DISAPPOINTING”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2013

We had attended a function at this location when it was called Nicole's and it was out of this world delish. Upon being seated, our waitress informed us that Pat Orlando recently bought the restaurant and we were so pleasantly surprised as we have been to Pat's other restaurant and we cannot say enough good things about it. When the Projo printed his marinara recipe several years ago, I cut it out and it's a keeper. To our dismay, the 7 of us were underwhelmed and disappointed. The calamari were the worse we ever had and soooooo many tentacles-ick! Those that had the veal parm had tough, over-cooked veal. The seafood dish wasn't good. Nothing was good except for the sauce, but good sauce on lousy food doesn't make for a winner. Our waitress was very nice but we'll never go back.
