Wyndahm Bay Voyage Inn is a nice, but old hotel. Place was clean, staff was friendly and helpful, including housekeeping staff. The view is great, and it's very convenient to the few restaurants in town (The Oyster Bar and Trattoria Simpatico are terriffic). The bedroom is small, but adequate and the living room is also adequate. The sleep sofa in the living room seemed fine. Issues were the heating unit, which was either way too hot or off, no matter how it was set, and the front door was warped so the door had to be slammed to lock it. One other issue is that our room was directly over the restaurant, which meant that the fish odors were kind of strong at night. I'd stay again, but I'd look for something newer in the area if it were available.

“Great view, awesome brunch”

Wyndham Bay Voyage Inn

My mom has a timeshare here so my boyfriend & I went up for a weekend. I've seen this property from the outside and on the Internet and was quite excited. The staff were very friendly upon arrival and provided us with maps, brochures and newspapers from the area. Our suite was on the 3rd floor and although there was no deck, there were two sets of bay windows looking out at the Newport Bridge - very, very nice. The heating/cooling unit in the living room only shut off by unplugging it from the wall but other than that, the suite was in tip-top shape and one could tell that renovations had been recently made. On Sundays, the Inn offers (for about $30/person) a wonderful and delicious brunch - again, the views of the bridge are so nice.

The one complaint would be about the staff - because it was a timeshare, I checked in on a Friday and left on a Sunday. My mom was scheduled to check in on Monday and I had specifically asked the staff to change the bedsheets and tidy up the room although there was a $30 fee to do so. According to my mother - they never changed the sheets, made the bed or cleaned the room. I was very disappointed in that as clean sheets are a must! I need to check my statement to see if I was charged for that service. Also they were not as speedy checking my mom in as the staff working on that Monday were under the impression that I was still in the room, even though we made arrangements with the Sunday staff on my departure. Other than that - no complaints. I would stay here again.

This small all suites hotel is in an ideal location, on the water overlooking the Newport Bridge and a short walk to the village of Jamestown. However, it is a mediocre hotel. The livingroom was lovely and we had a large balcony. The walls are thin; you can hear TVs in other rooms, people moving about, etc. The bedroom is spartan with tired furniture. On their web site the hotel restaurant describes two menus. No where on the web site nor on the printed menus which we got when we checked in, does it mention that the Tavern menu is not available on Friday and Saturday nights.

The staff was friendly.

If you want a great location and don't have high expectations, this is adequate.

The Bay Voyage Inn was clean, and the hor d’oeuvres were decent, but the main meal was a bit plain, even for a wedding reception. We had Baked Stuffed Shrimp, which contained 3 oversized-overstuffed Shrimp with Crabmeat, which we a bit lacking in spices and some of those served at our table were cold. Others had pork tenderloins that were noted as dry. Bar Service was good, but the drinks that were paid for were extremely overpriced. Also, two single shots of Sambucca ran $16 (extravagant in price). You’re paying for location, not necessarily quality. The Inn caters to receptions and large parties due to the view of the water and Newport Bridge. The dinner menu that I glanced at was pricey and sparse. There are many many other good restaurants in the area that you can eat at if you want to pay the same Bay Voyage Inn prices. Also, the restrooms were on the ground floor (3 floors down from the dining room) and were accessible either from the stairs or elevator. However, there is a health club on that floor and the entire wing smells like chlorine.

“Nothing open on a Monday!”

We made a reservation for Monday, Sept 3, 2007 to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary and the last night of our vacation. The inn is in a beautiful location off Newport Bay in Jamestown, RI and our room was comfortable and tastefully appointed. However, we found out at the time of check-in that there was no dining, bar, or other amenities available to us during our stay, as the dining room is always closed on Mondays. Since we paid $312 (with taxes) for nothing more than a suite/room to sleep in, the value was not entirely worth it in our opinion. This inn is better served by tourists who will be staying several days/nights and will be utilizing the small and nicely appointed kitchenette.
On one last note, we found the front office staff to be less than friendly at our time of check-in.
