If you want home cooking, fresh healthy food a family atmosphere, and still have money left over, then Cabrals is the place to go.
The soup there is made from scratch and loaded with substance. The sandwiches are old style with fesh meats not pressed food substance. Chicken pot pies loaded with his famous rotiserie chicken and fresh vegatibles. Stuffed peppers, stuffies, chourico and spinach pies and a vinergar based macaroni salad all made right there fresh and delicious. Of course the namesake Cabrals rotisere whole chickens and chicken wings. Cooked in brick fired rotiseries, basted with his own special seasoning and butter, this chicken is worth driving across country for. If you want to break it up try some of the ribs but don't blame me when you can't stop eating them.
If you like chourico and blade meat sanwiches (my personal favorite) go no further. On Fridays only, stop in for fresh fried fish and chips, scallops, and when available fried clams, but get there early because he usually sells out.
The atmoshere is old town fun and a landmark to anyone in the east bay. Not only do you get home cooking at a fantastic price, you also feel the warmth and love of Paul and Sue discussing all of lifes issues. Just thinking of the good food and good times spent a Cabrals makes me want to jump in my car and get right over there. In fact I think I will! See you there in 6 days with a monkeys appatite from California. Thanks for continuing to serve old fashioned food in the fast food age.
