I recently stayed at this property for 3 nights. The location and property itself were amazing-convenient and scenic. You could hear the waves all night and walk to EVERYTHING, yet away from the street noise, as opposed to many of the other surrounding accommodations.
That all said, however, the amenities and hospitality for what the room cost were severely lacking and disappointing and well below par of other b and b's i have stayed at. Here is what we experienced:
-the breakfast was cold and sparse in quantity. After eating the first breakfast and inspecting the second, we decided to eat elsewhere each morning. We shouldn't have to pay for breakfast somewhere else when the room cost close to $400/night
-at breakfast on the first day, they ran out of plates, knives and napkins which were not automatically relenished. The staff should be on top of this
-the food and wine hour in the late afternoon is a nice touch, but the food, while tasty, was insufficient in quantity. You can't put out 4 cookies for a house full of people. And once again, the staff made no attempt to replenish any of it
-the bathroom only contained one tiny bath soap, barely enough for one body, let alone two, and it was never replenished throughout the stay
-My room had ants and the staff was completely unresponsive in getting rid of them
-We were never told that check-in was at the Blue Dory Inn-a cop standing near the ferry told us. Upon check-in, my friend walked out of the bright sun, into the dark lobby of the BD where it was hard to see, and tripped and fell on luggage that was sitting there in the middle of the floor. He was pretty banged up and the staff showed minimal concern.
-the TV in the room which is Direct TV did not work properly. Also a magnifying glass is needed to see it
-it would also be nice if cell phone usage was prohibited on the porch. There is nothing worse than trying to read and relax out there while a fellow guest is jabbering incessantly on their phone
I think alot of the issues here stem from the fact that it seems that this inn and the BD are left to be run by inexperienced young college girls. I don't know who the owners are, but it is a shame that they do not hire people with experience in the HOSPITALITY industry.
In summary, although the property has been nicely renovated and the location cannot be topped, we had the definite impression that the owner's MO is to charge top dollar while skimping on the amenities and service. I would not return here at these prices unless I was assured that the services provided were commensurate with the price being charged.
