“Great Outside Seating”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 23, 2012

Outside seating, with a view of the beach and the sea. Just had a quick lunch, good food and very fast service. The place is huge, I wouldn't imagine there would be a wait for dinner. They also had the cleanest restroom around!

“Great beachfront with waitress service at your chair”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 21, 2012

Very enjoyable afternoon hanging out on the beach. We rented some chairs and plopped down on the sand for a few hours before heading back to the mainland. Waitresses were very good in dealing with a few hundred needy peple on the beach. They are all from different parts of the world, too. Sort of a built in trivia game of where is that accent from. Live music starts around 2pm. I have eaten here in the past. It is OK. Not great or anything. Beach pub food. We prefer to go to the National Hotel or if it is CRAZY hot then the air conditioning of the Mohegan Cafe and Brewery. Both are very nearby and we just leave our towels, etc at the chairs and head over.

The place goes from rated G to PG-13 pretty quick especially around the fourth of July. By late afternoon, you may wish your kids were elsewhere. But kids are pretty oblivious to what is happening around them. But again, it was the eve of the fourth of July so you would expect to have most people enjoying their time on the island.

“Can't say enough Great Things!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 16, 2012

Ballard's is located to the left as you exit the ferry. They are an Inn and Restaurant as well as a Great Beach! This was our first time to Block Island and Ballard's was a great part of it. They have ample seating both indoor and out (2) large bars, live music, shower for the public and use of their beach by the public. Rentals of Chairs, umbrellas and cabanas are availablem as well as waitstaff on the beach. We ate at the outdoor seating and enjoyed a great tasty lunch with great friendly service.

“Outstanding food beautiful decor”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2012

We had dinner on the back deck overlooking the beach and Atlantic Oxean. The interior of Ballards has been completely redone. It has a new floor plan. There are doors that open onto the deck and porch to give the restaurant an open feel and lots of cross ventilation. The attention to detail in the renovation is amazing. There are interesting pieces of art hanging from the ceiling, beautiful tile on the sides of the bar, new bathrooms..... Dinner was great. I started with New Engkand clam chowder. It was outstanding. I followed that with shrimp scampi on organic pasta. My husband had Caesar salad and fish and chips. Our guest had swordfish. That looked very good. I would recommend anyone go for drinks and entertainment or dinner. We had a great time.

“Yum whole bellied clam roll!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2012

We spent the majority of the day on the beach in front of Ballard's so it was only natural (and super easy) to order lunch inside. We ordered two pitchers, one of rum runners and one of a lemon slush and vodka mix. Both were good (and super strong!) I had the whole bellied clam roll for lunch and it was fantastic! Fried perfectly, in a hot dog bun, came with chips but had to order the great shoe string fries on the side. Loved it all.
