First off, Block Island is such a wonderful place in itself that I do not think it matters where you shack up…just as long as you’re there. My husband and I chose the Gothic Inn, mainly because it was within our price range and dog-friendly. However, we got much more than we thought. We stayed in one of the four guesthouse apartments, which had one large room with queen bed, pull out sofa, TV and a large private bathroom. We stayed in September, so the weather was just about perfect. No air conditioner or heat needed. The bed slept well, the water ran hot and the breakfast was simple but good. There is a beautiful view of the ocean from the back porch of the inn, where you can sip your coffee and take in the fresh air. Crescent beach is just a two minute walk from the inn, and the harbor town (and ferry) is also just a few-minutes’ walk away.
