We were just staying for a weekend wedding on the island, but I would stay far away from this hotel for any lengthy stay. First off, the "queen" sized bed was nearly a foot narrower than our queen size bed at home thus necessitating a cot for our 5 year old. Ordinarily this would not be a problem, but the room is tiny to begin with and putting a cot in it made it even more cramped. We could barely move. In addition, the "queen" mattress was full of lumps and had a huge crater in the center. My back hurts just thinking about it. On top of this, we were treated to a pub style serenade from the bar below for nearly 20 minutes at around midnight and the bar noise continued right up until last call. Luckily it was a cool weekend, because there is also no air conditioning. The desk fan did the trick in the case, but if it were 5 degrees hotter, we would have had a nice sauna effect added to our discomfort.
Needless to say, I did not sleep well and woke up each day sore and tired. What else can I say?
The wifi, while cheap, was slower than my phone connection and dropped out every few minutes, so it was pretty much a waste of money.
The bathroom and adjoining vanity area were so cramped, it was impossible for more than one person to shower and get ready at the same time.
There was no vent in the shower, so after two uses the temperature in the room jumped several degrees and the accompanying humidity made you feel like you had just come back from a 3 mile run. Not a very nice way to get donned up in a suit and tie.
The TV had only a handful of channels, and they had several channels whcih played the same movie over and over again the entire stay. There were actually a couple we did want to watch, but for some starnge reason, the pciture would lock up every few minutes, then jump ahead such that entire scenes wew skipped. So I guess the idea was to watch the move several times over and hope you eventually get to see every scene???
The decor could be decribed as shaggy victorian with a mid 70s twist thrown in for the bath elements.
The shower head was one of those water saver affairs and felt like a sandblaster and who doesn't love the stick to the leg effect of a cloth shower curtain?
The complimantary continental breakfast seems designed to make up for the lack of a coffee machine in the room.
And if you want some ice, make sure your not in your PJ's because you'll need to go to the bar for it.
At least the food was OK, the service was decent and it was conveniently located.
Otherwise, it is hard to say anything truly potitive about this hotel.
Regarding an overall value proposition? I realize everything on the Island is a bit more expensive, but for what they charge for this place you'd figure they could refurbish the rooms more than once every other decade, and the lumpy crater of a mattress is completely inexcusable.
Stay somewhere else...
