“Prob wouldn't stay here again”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2011

Booked a last minute trip to celebrate an anniversary with my husband. Our room was one of the last available on the island so we knew it wasn't going to be fancy but didn't think it'd be so tiny with the dinkiest fan I've ever seen. The sun beat on our side of the building all day so we slept in our sweat all night. Tiniest bathroom and shower with no light. No phone in room. On top of this, we had the worst neighbors- 5 screaming drunk girls, literally screaming and swearing, slamming doors and stomping up and down the stairs from early morning til early night when they finally came for 2 days. Staff almost had to call the cops on them because they were so disruptive and wouldn't even open their door to the staff. Hotel is completely ran by young foreign 20 something year olds so you may have some difficulty understanding or getting your point across. Free continental breakfast is terrible. After walking by and going into other places on the island, I would def not want to come back here, especially for the price we paid! Only plus is the location but the island is so small that walking to somewhere nicer is much worth it. Springhouse was gorgeous and i'd want to stay there next.

Room Tip: Ask for one of the few rooms with AC!

What a neat island Block Island is! We were prepared to use the bikes that were a part of the mid-week special that included hotel, ferry, and food coupons. We were able to bike to the Southeast Lighthouse and take in the fabulous view from Mohegan Bluffs. The Harborside Inn was built in the 1800's so the rooms are small but clean and the staff was friendly. How much time do you want to spend in the room anyway when there is so much exploring to do? The food was delicious at the Mohegan Cafe & Brewery. Continental breakfast at the Harborside Inn was adequate. I would love to return to Block Island.

Room Tip: Search the internet for package deals and do not take your car to the island because you will miss t...

Stayed here as part of a Discover Block Island mid-week special. Pkg was a great value. Hotel is located directly across from the ferry. The loaction is the best part of this hotel. Situated in Old Harbor, surrounded by shops, restaurants, bicycle & moped rentals, and a short walk to the beach. The deck has an area to sit in wicker chairs , have a drink, enjoy a ice cream cone, or just people watch., Great view of the ferrys pulling in and out of port which also means you can hear thier horns. First ferry leaves at 7am! Hotel front desk needs some hospitality training. The staff is young and mostly foriengers. The rooms are very small. The queen size beds take up the entire room. There is a fan in the room but the ocean breezes is nice. Room had a small tv with a limited number of cable channels. Bathrooms are also tiny, with a stand up shower and no closet. There was no iron , we had to borrow one from our neighbors. Walls are very thin. Floors creak and the staircase in the lobby tilts to the side. I would stay here if planning on not being in your room much, just shower and sleep.

Room Tip: Book the discover block Island mid-week pkg

Apparently the most inexpensive inn on the island, as most places were charging $100 or more. I paid sixty something. The Harborside is a handsome, historic building, and it's surrounded by more of the same. The location, directly across from the ferry landing, is great if you plan on walking to dinner or shops.

I chose a room w/o AC in my room because I stayed in September when the weather is mild. The room does include a fan. I think there is no heat, either, but unless you are staying during a cool period in the shoulder season (I think the place is closed in the winter), that doesn't matter. My room, small but clean, had a sink with a mirror and a separate little bathroom with a shower and toilet. When I travel I don't stay in my room much so I don't mind.

I didn't need special service but when I asked the women behind the counter a couple of questions they were helpful. I don't know how easy parking is during the busy summer season. You would have to find streetside parking somewhere in the area, as the Harborside doesn't have a parking lot. Wireless internet service is available but unfortunately they charge for it so I didn't use it.

I liked it and would stay here again. With the other pricey places on the island I didn't have much of a choice anyway.

we stayed for two nights and loved the inn. very old and pretty and we enjoyed sitting on the veranda in the late afternoon. employees were very helpful especially when the ferries were cancelled on friday when we were supposed to arrive and on monday when we were supposed to leave. we ended up taking a small plane from the island to the mainland but really loved our room and the whole atmosphere of the inn. we ate at the Mohegan Cafe and it was absolutely delicious.

We signed onto a package deal for 2 nights midweek and a fishing charter. The hotel was exactly what we expected - an old, Rhode Island seaside hotel, complete with uneven floors, creaky doors, and narrow staircases. We have stayed at most of the island hotels, and find this charming. Our room was directly across from the ferry dock and although a little noisy, it was very interesting. The Inn has a nice porch with white wicker chairs, great for people watching. As always, the island was QUIET Wednesday and Thursday and exploded with life on Friday and Saturday. Because of this, we had to move to a very small room for Friday night and pay double for it...weekends are pricey, our one disappointment. The fishing charter was EXCELLENT!

The Harborside Inn was the perfect accomadation for us. The room was very clean and filled with sunlight. Bathroom looked like it had been recently renovated. The housekeepers did a great job as well and got us everything we asked for. The girls at the front desk were also very pleasant and check in was a breeze! My favorite part about staying at the Harborside was that it is in the best location ever; right in the center of downtown it is in the middle of all the best shopping ,dining, and nightlife and across the street from the ferry- so convenient!
