Dining alfresco on the deck offfers a spectacular view of New Harbor, Block Island. The fresh clams were briny and delicious and the paella could compete anywhere. Service attentive and prices reasonable.

Food,service,and ambiance made for a pleasant evening for my family

We visited Block Island on our boat over the hottest weekend in recent Rhode Island history. We stayed at Paine's Dock in New Harbor. The Inn is located on a hill overlooking Paine's and the harbor and offers seating on a typical New England porch that wraps arround two sides of the Inn. Besides the wonderful view the porch was blessed with cooling breezes (air conditioning is not common on Block Island).

I ordered a veal with shrimp dish prepared in a sauce that is typical of veal dishes that was really delicious. My wife had a surf and turf dish with a generous filet that was cooked perfectly (rare) and quite tender. She also rated the flavor as excellent. The prices were quite reasonable and in fact were close to half the price of similar "specials" at a well known hotel over by the ferry docks.

The servers were pleasant and efficient althouh the hostess had room for improvement in her attitude.

Overall I would highly recommend this restaurant for anyone visiting Block Island.
