“A romantic getaway”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 2, 2013

From the moment we laid eyes on the Lady Linden we knew it was special. From the meticulously restored rooms to the attention to detail in service, our stay was fantastic. But what made it even better was the friendly atmosphere Jean and Jim create for their guests. From giving us great tips on local restaurants (York is a hidden gem with much to offer) or walking trails (the local park and lake are perfect) to conversing over delicious breakfasts, they are the consummate hosts. We'd book there again in a heartbeat.

Room Tip: Choose the Grecian room!

We were so glad we chose to stay last night at the beautifully restored 'Lady Linden B&B, in York, Pennsylvania. Travelling together as two couples, we all found the rooms delightful, and the owners, Jean and Jim, very friendly and helpful. It was so nice sitting out on the first floor balcony, having a glass of red and watching the fire flies on the lawn. Our breakfast was very tasty and it was so nice to have a great cup of really good English tea!
The Lady Linden is close to town and easy to get to.
We would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to stay in a homely environment if travelling to York. Thanks Jean and Jim

The Lady Linden is the perfect convergence of a beautifully, lovingly, painstakingly restored Victorian era house owned (and restored by) two absolutely engaging people; Jean and Jim.
My wife and I were on an eastern swing from Indiana looking at potential retirement cities near Baltimore (near family including grandkid) and we happened upon York and the Lady Linden and Jean and Jim.

First, the B & B.

The restoration is jaw dropping. There are two rooms; one with a double bed and a private balcony and a large bathroom with a full antique tub/shower. It's a small room with just enough clothing storage. The other room is larger, with two twin beds and lots of dresser space. We opted for the double bed.

The rooms come with a private entrance as well for after-hours entry.

Jean is a completely engaging host (originally from England) and an unofficial York goodwill Ambassador. She obviously loves the place and on our second day there toured us through the farmer's market, art galleries where we met several local artists, had a private tour of the grand theater, The Strand (very cool), and strolled through downtown. Her husband Jim, a retired teacher, is now a professional restoration painter on many of the period houses in York.

We loved the B & B and Jean and Jim.

York seems to be a town that, by all accounts of artists, bartenders, servers, tour guides a place that has struggled to find an identity and overcome population flight...but has found that identity (arts and vibrancy and a good place to do business) and is working diligently to make it a town of appeal. There do seem to be dicey areas near downtown (where we would want to live), as with any city in America, but I've been assured that powerful parties are working on it.

Everyone with whom we engaged, however, were excited about York's direction and future. It's going to take that kind of community belief to turn York's fortunes even higher than they have progressed thus far.

As for the Lady Linden B & B...if we ever return to York, Pennsylvania, Jean would be the first person on my list to call and get a room.

Room Tip: There are only two rooms.

I spent 5 nights at this Bed and Breakfast and it was a wonderful experience. Jim and Jean are so delightful and friendly. Jean's British accent lends to even a more delightful experience. The room itself was perfect and the breakfast so well presented and amazing. I came back to Pennsylvania to spend time with my sister and when I arrived at this Bed and Breakfast I felt I was at home already with the warm reception and their "out of the way" hospitality lending to a lovely stay. Please put this place first on your list when visiting and discovering the great historical area of York (named after York, England) or surrounding cities.

By far one of the most pleasant stay in all B&B's visited over the last few years. The house is charismatic, with details, grandure and a story line within every nook and cranny. Jim and Jean did a splendid job restoring this house and it shows. We chose this place because it was conveniently at walking distance of the York State fair...but in indsight, we would've stayed even if we needed the car to drive to the fair..Never met Jim but Jean was a true host, with a joyfull and serene attitude, making us wish we had planned for a longer stay. Lodging was perfect, the breakfast was truthfully exquisite and the overhaul athmosphere made us feel warm and welcomed throughout...Would not hesitate to highly recommend, anytime, anyone....

Room Tip: we took the room with the balcony, the weather was still warm even in the evening, so we enjoyed to...
