“Renovation makes Hampton Inn new again.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 22, 2012

We've stayed here a number of times over the years. But driving in this time, we remembered the location but not the hotel. It looks brand new. Totally renovated and very comfortable. This is our first choice in York. Front desk is very pleasant. Internet is speedy and easy. Breakfast is fine. Beds are comfortable as home. Rooms are quiet. A great stop in York and one of the nicest Hamptons we've stayed at.

We chose this Hampton Inn over others in the Hershey/Lancaster area because the price was so good. We used it as our home base for all the PA Dutch Country attractions. While it is centrally located, be prepared for about a 20-30 minute drive to most attractions including Hershey Park. This didn't bother us at all, and was well worth the reduced price compared with the Hershey area hotels.

The good: Price, hotel is clean and well kept, rooms are adequate size for family of 4, staff are EXTREMELY helpful - everyone from the front desk to cleaning staff to breakfast area attendants were accommodating and nice. When the breakfast area ran out of certain items such as eggs, the attendants went to get more and personally delivered it to our table.

The not-so-good: Compared with other Hampton Inns, the breakfast area is a bit cramped and with a crowd becomes unmanageable for guests and the hotel attendants. The hotel gets a lot of vacationers and the breakfast area can be so crowded you can't find a seat.

I have to agree with TorontoTimTim - the duvets were heavy! But everything was very clean and welcoming. Bathroom very nice, pool small but pleasant (outside and not heated), very comfortable beds, very pretty decor in the rooms and in the lobby. the staff were all really friendly and helpful. The breakfast was by far the best we've had at any hotel - make your waffles, real oatmeal (not instant), varieties of cereal, lots of fresh fruit, yogurt, donuts/muffins, juices, coffee/tea ... Hotel was fairly easy to find, just look for JCPenney and the mall. Wouldn't hesitate to book there again!

First I will start with what was bad about the hotel - the duvet for the bed weighs a ton. Otherwise; All the staff were friendly. The breakfast, as usual for a Hampton Inn was good. I had a few misgivings when I found our room was just off the lobby. However, other than the odd scream from a child, there was no noise. The hotel was pretty full, it was an holiday weekend, there was a wedding party, and a baseball team. This made parking fun, though we had no problems with our handicapped placard, even though there was only two spaces.
If you are coming to the area to see Amish area around Lancaster, you will find it a 35 minute drive. The hotel sits in the carpark of the York Galleria Mall, the largest in the area. There are plenty of places to eat in the area to suit all tastes.

Had a nice stay, clean hotel, friendly staff that greeted me as I expect from a Hilton property. My visit was for just one night but I will come back to this hotel again. Very good location for my business purposes. They have a decent restaurant just across from the lobby that is incredibly convenient.

Decided to kill a weekend doing some bike riding and selected the Hampton across from the Mall. This place was spotless and the people at the desk were so pleasant and helpful. I have stayed at many Hamptons and for the most part all were excellent but this place is far and above one of the best. The breakfast in the morning was beyond excellent. Everything you could imagine was on the table, all the fruits were fresh and morning pastries just about oven fresh. I think we are going to do a little more biking in that area and are looking forward to another stay there! BTW, if you like great food and reasonable priced with great atmosphere try the Eagles Nest which is a short 5 minute ride from the hotel.

My wife and i stayed here on a weekend getaway and found this Hampton Inn just about perfect. Friendly, helpful staff, quiet as a mouse hotel, and good breakfast bar. It's also very convenient to the shopping mall if that's of nterest to you.

We absolutely will stay here the next time we are in the area. BTW, I am a steady business traveler, logging way to many night in hotels during the year. I am not easily impressed but these folks knocked it out fo the park.
