“A Basic Sure-Bet”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 2, 2013

We typically stay at the Fairfield Inns when on "regular" travel. They are quite reliable - clean, well-maintained and with good service. Yet there are some variations, particularly with regard to service. This Fairfield was a really good one. The breakfast was better than we have found before - with some hot options (though the woman setting up was clearing everything 15 minutes before breakfast was to end - the reason for the lower score here). And there were both a pool and two hot tubs. A "TGIF" Friday's was next door, where the food was quite good - and the Fairfield offered coupons for a small discount. If you are in the area and want a reliable, clean and comfortable hotel - and at competitively reasonable prices - this is a "sure bet".

We stayed here for two days. The room was very comfortable and clean. We had a very nice breakfast both days. We enjoyed the use of the pool as well. Front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the sitting area and fireplace in the lobby, we had other family members meet us there, and it was a nice place to gather.

I stayed here recently for a wedding. The hotel was clean, well kept, and nicely appointed. I found the room to be a standard hotel room, but the bed was comfortable and the bathroom was usable. I was not a fan of the shower, it just didn't get very hot, but it worked. The breakfast was good, the food was hot and plentiful. I was also a fan of the fireplace in the lobby, it just made for a nice setting for our group of friends to be social. The outside seating was kind of lame though, it is in a "quad" setting with another hotel, and both hotels could spring for some new outside seating. Overall a decent place to stay. It is a little hard to find, as it is on the back side of the three hotels that are right there, behind the TGIF restaurant. It could use better signage!

This hotel could get a high three stars or low four. I'm giving it four stars because of the great service. We had flown to Newark and drove the 2 hours to Wilkes Barre. However, our flight was over 2 hours late and we arrived after 1am. The hotel night clerk was still waiting for us, and was very pleasant and helpful despite the late hour.

The rooms are comfortable although not fancy. The morning breakfast was very good -- hot sausage and eggs, waffles, pastries, cereal, fruit and more. Free WiFi. A nice pool and hot tub, but it was over chlorinated.

Stayed for just a single night for work. Check in was quick/efficient, the room was very standard and clean. Breakfast in the morning was the basic Fairfield Inn complimentary breakfast.

Not many options for running. I made it across the highway and ran loops in the morning at the mall, otherwise good luck finding a place to run.

It is also very close to Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs which was a great side visit.

Work will set me up here the next time I have to come down.

This is a second time stopping here on our way through the state. After driving all day it was great we could walk to TGIF restaurant. Everyone was professional but we did not have much interaction with staff. It is great that they had coffee in the lobby always and free breakfast in the morning. We had to get on the road so glad breakfast started at 6:30. The singing "grandma" that put the breakfast out was a delight and can't believe she is still working. Hope I am still active like her in my later years. Would recommend this hotel to anyone in the area.

Absolutely love the Fairfield Inn in Wilkes-Barre, PA. The rooms are always clean, it is a very good value and the staff is very helpful and accommodating. Great breakfast in the morning! Even though the hotel is mostly full all the time, it is still very quiet and peaceful. Love being able to see the mountains in the distance. Close to all attractions and restaurants. I stay there every time I visit Wilkes-Barre.

Room Tip: I always ask to stay on the side of the hotel that has a view of the mountains.
