“Great Romantic Getaway- close to Montage Mountain & Mohegan Sun Casino”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 26, 2009

Just spent two weeknights in a steamside room at The Woodlands Inn & Resort. Such a quiet and lovely stay. Room was a delight; surprise accomodations in a small town. Enjoyed relaxing on the balcony, listening & watching the stream, while reading a book.

Food was great at both pizza restaurant, that also has sandwiches & salads; and at Shogun, a great sushi/hibatchi restaurant that was as good/fresh as any in our town.

Close proximity to Montage Mountain for both skiing & great concerts. We came in town for a concert & this was the place to stay.

If you like gambling or horses, the race track & casino are only a minute down the street.

They also have a great nightclub; and I hear on the weekends it is loud & fun.

We stayed here for our anniversary. We enjoyed the restaurants, night life, and shopping. We will definately come back next year for our next anniversary. Price is a little more than we would like to spend for a weekend but we enjoyed the previously mentioned amenities.

You hear the name Woodlands Resort and see the pictures and you figure this will be tucked away into the wilderness somewhere. Nope. Right off a four lane divided highway, which you are able to hear from some of the rooms.

The front desk staff was incredibly friendly and gracious. We were there with a wedding, and they just went out of their way to be helpful. They overheard us talking about a particular place and they offered to print out directions for us.

We had a 1 king bed room. I was struck by how small the room was, particular in an area that's not cramped for space. The style was very modern, however that doesn't equate to practical. The closet is tiny, and I hesitate to call it a closet. It's a waste of space, there's no reason there couldn't be a normal closet there. The lighting in the room is more than adequate, with recessed lighting. Our TV was not a flat panel, but the suites had flat panels. The bed was comfortable, but the pillows were atrocious. They looked lovely and fluffy, but as soon as you laid on them your head hit the mattress.

The bathroom was weird. There is no, and I mean NO ventilation whatsoever. Trust me, we weren't the only ones to comment on this. Moreso than any other hotel I have stayed at. The overhead lights are heat lamps, which doesn't help that problem. There is a built in shelf, which is nice to put stuff one. But the sink does not have a flat surface on it- no where to put the soap! The toliet paper is on a peg, not a traditional TP holder. This is bizarre, and awkward. Expect the roll to fall on the floor multiple times. There is no bar/rack for the bathtowels, only a few hooks. Again, expect towels on the floor. The shower was great and the water pressure was fantastic.

The breakfast was cold and there was little to pick from.

The resort is really spread out, so it's a long walk to get many places.

The spa is fantastic and highly recommended. Reasonable and very accomodating. The manager opened up early so that she could squeeze me in.

They did a great job for the wedding- the service was fantastic, particularly at the cocktail hour.

BTW- with the clbus, parking is atrocious on a weekend night!

Overall, I think it is overpriced, but it probably sees itself as one of the "nicer" places to stay in the area. If I went back, I'd probably stay next door at the Holiday Inn Express for much less.

This was me and my significant others third stay at the woodlands. We highly recommend the streamside rooms. The view of the creek from the balcony is very tranquil. The indoor and outdoor pools are great places to get wet and chill. All restaurants have good eats and the outdoor deck bar is a fun place to hang with an awesome view of the creek. The rooms are very clean and modern. The nightclub evolution is one exciting scene. There is so much variety in this one resort hotel you cant not enjoy your stay. We will return.

Wife and I decided to stay at the woodlands for our anniversary and boy were we glad, Great restaurants’ (gorgeous staff), great location (close to the new casino), great staff, and super clean rooms. About the night club, wouldn’t even know they had one if they didn't advertise. We walked past doors to night club and it sounded like any other bar. Walked 20 feet from entrance and sound was gone. Streamside rooms are very romantic and its view of the stream was nice. We are planning our next trip to the Woodlands very soon.Only down fall was that they stop running to the casino too early.

We came for a high school reunion and stayed for 4 days. Our room was well equipped and housekeeping had it cleaned very quickly everyday. The Japanese restaurant was as good as in the big city. Food was fresh and cooked to our request. Alexander's Spa and hair salon gave me excellent service including a great hairdo. We enjoyed the pools and the grounds. You felt like you were at a secluded retreat. Our only complaint was that there were not enough parking spaces on weekend evenings.

Nightclub is out of control. Two drunks screaming at each other outside my door at 2 a.m., threatening each other with guns. Worst hotel stay ever.
