I wanted to preface this by saying that I was a bit trepadacious about booking at this hotel after reading some of the reviews on TripAdvisor. I chose this property as it was very close to the Fairgrounds where I was attending a dog show with my Golden Retriever (perfectly groomed, clean and friendly). We were expecting a sizable snow storm and I wanted to be as close as possible as we had an early ring time. When I arrived with my handler, the young lady at the desk was very pleasant and I told her that we were concerned that our rooms be very clean and smoke-free, mold-free smelling. As a non-smoker there is nothing worse than a room with smoke odor. My handler is also very sensitive to mold and would be very sick if the room was dirty. She immediately went to check on the rooms for us and confirmed that they were without odor or other issues.
The rooms were spacious, clean and very comfortable. His room was a King and I had 2 full size beds. We both agreed that the beds were comfortable and had an excellent night's sleep. The snow came as predicted and we were happy to find that the parking lot was being plowed as well as the rather steep hill that you have to climb to reach the property at the base. I would say that was the only down side to the property as in bad weather it could get pretty tricky if you do not have an appropriate vehicle. This hotel could use some updates in the lobby, the rugs in the halls are a bit older but frankly, it was all fine for our purposes. We grabbed some continental breakfast on the run which was adequate for our morning. Nothing fancy but we took it with us. The hotel is located down a hill, as described, off of a small highway. Right across the highway is a very upscale mall-Lehigh Mall where there are plenty of eateries. We braved the snow storm and had a nice meal there and returned without problems as they had again plowed the hotel approach.
It is my guess that some rooms at this hotel were problematic because some of the reviews were so negative. Either they have been cleaned up or ours were perfect due to our insistence on clean, odorless rooms. My advice is to do the same and you will be happy with your stay. The rate is decent and it is close to everything.
