Spent St. Patty's Day at Doc's. Party if 4. $1 oysters (certain varieties) - not bad, but the oysters here are always a bit sandy. The shuckers could use a lesson in rinsing. Dad ordered the corned beef and cabbage special - it was OK at best. I ordered the blackened scallops - very good actually. 4 large scallops served with mashed cauliflower and mixed veggies, for $24 - not a bargain, but very tasty. My husband made the big mistake of the night - he ordered the NY Strip steak with grilled shrimp, on special. Sounds good, right? Well, the steak came out and we were shocked to see that it was tiny! Honestly, the tiniest NY strip I have ever seen. It looked like an average-sized steak cut in half. When the server came back to check on us, I asked her how many ounces the steak was supposed to be, and she said 6 ounces. Well, that explained why it was so tiny, but not why a restaurant would serve a "petite" strip (NOT a filet), NOT warn you that you're ordering a miniature size steak, and then have the gall to charge you $29 for it?! True, it was also served with 4 medium-sized (not jumbo, or even extra-large, I'd say) shrimp, and a potato (French fries, in this case), but honestly -$29? That was a crime! We will likely not return any time soon. The quality of food and the service here have declined over the past couple of years, while the prices have increased. Shame, as we used to be "regulars" here... :(
