Nudy's is testing the patience of its patrons. When I first discovered this quaint little place about a decade ago, I, like many others, were thrilled to find a small diner that was making great full breakfasts and lunches, appealing to our desire for great fries and cheese slathered food, as well as providing a few well-prepared healthy choices. However, one shouldn't rest on laurels. Many years on with a booming business, the details begin to annoy. The coffee is more poorly prepared and chosen than what one will find at McDonald's. The collective awareness of better quality coffee isn't hard to perceive, Nudy's needs to act on it. The orange juice is still dispensed from a unit that mixes the concentrate with water, with an inconsistent and sometimes unpalatable result. Oh, and the atmosphere. Obviously ambience is not an issue; the place is homey and charming. But, for most of the warm months of late spring, summer, and early fall, the whispering clogged insufficient wall mounted air conditioner hardly affects the stifling heat of the main room of the restaurant. Considering that attendance is often elbow to elbow, I'm presuming that enough profit has been made to invest a bit in providing for the comfort of the patrons. And, as that continues to be neglected, I venture to Nudy's less and less often.
