“Had horrible experience”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed February 19, 2010

I was not to be charged for this room as per hotel clerk when i called to complain about the blood on the bed sheets (which was changed by a scary man in our room for a half hour) and the underwear that was found under the bed, and that was after our reservations were completely screwed up. I was accomadating with the room, was very upset and dissapointed with the unsanitary condition (to say the least) of the room cleanliness, or should i say uncleanliness. When i spoke to the clerk and was very unhappy and wanted a different room, obviously there was no rooms to send us to, so was to be given a credit for the room, this is the first time that i can say that i have been dissatisfied with a stay at any of the hotels that i have previously stayed in and was little discouraged because this was the night i got engaged and was a little messed up

I booked 5 rooms at your hotel for friends to meet and celebrate a 50th birthday. We had never been to the area before, but heard good things about it. It was such a nice stay that I wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed it.

The positives with this weekend started from the phone reservation I made through the 1-800-Holiday Inn number. The gentleman who took the reservation was extremely nice and patient, and said he would even attempt to get our rooms grouped together or adjoining. I actually booked 8 rooms for 2 separate weekends, not knowing how the weather would affect our traveling or who would be able to make it. The ability to simply cancel the rooms we did not need on-line was awesome - with the immediate confirmation that the room was cancelled I did not worry about getting charged in error.

When we arrived at the hotel, there was a warm fire, a pleasant aroma and a homey atmosphere in the lobby. The refreshing citrus water was always there. There we met Paula O., who has to be one of the nicest hotel employees I have ever met! Please let her know how impressed we were wtih her. She went out of her way to to whatever she could to get us checked in quickly, assist us in arranging the shuttle to take us shopping and gambling and offered us warm chocolate chip cookies!

Our rooms were large, clean, well equipped and, as we had hoped for, grouped together. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet at Maxwell's in the morning, and thought the idea of coffee in the elevator lobbies was a great idea, too.

I have rarely been so pleased with a hotel experience, and it helped to make this special occasion even better. Our "crew" has decided to make this an annual event - and we may be back before that. I would encourage anyone to stay at your hotel.

Thanks again for a wonderful experience!

Very close to Meadows Racetrack&Casino. Very friendly and helpful staff. Free shuttle to the Casino if you want it. Sat, night stay included free buffet breakfast(booked thru Xpedia.)Casino fans get a $5 voucher per person, if they're a Players Club member. If you're a smoker and your spouse isn't, don't book a smoking room. The lingering tobacco smell is a bit heavy on the "Smoking floor." The ground floor offers rooms where you can step out for a smoke and keep everyone happy.

My husband and I went for a wedding weekend. We stayed at The Holiday Inn Meadow Lands. The hotel was great. Their banquet rooms where the reception was held was wonderful, and the banquet manager was such great fun. He treated all the guests as if we were his family.

Any free time we had, there were so many things to choose from. I loved the shopping at the Tanger Outlet Mall and my husband loved the casino at the Meadows Racetrack.

If you are interested in genealogy, there is so much information there. Forget the courthouse but go to the Citizens Library where they were so helpful.

We've definitely put this on our weekend getaway list!

We stayed here for our wedding rehearsal and wedding nights. Both days we were moved out of our promised party rooms at the last minute. Also, the one party room was never cleaned for us as promised. The staff had no idea what was going on or where to have us move to and it felt like they overbooked that weekend because we never had personal attention from our contact. The dishes we ordered were incorrect. The bartender service was suspended due to lack of glassware even though we paid for open bar all night. Our personal belongings were left unattended in an unsecure room by the staff. Also for our guests room reservations we were to have a variety of non smoking and smoking rooms and when they started calling in the only ones available were smoking rooms. Overall anything that should have been done had to be asked for multiple times and done at the last minute or in a poor fashion leaving our wedding night a disaster.

Our experience here was awful. I would never recommend it to anyone, nor would we ever consider returning. Actually, given this experience, I think it will be a very long time before we stay in ANY Holiday Inn again.

Some rooms have been renovated and some clearly haven't. We've stayed in many Holiday Inns(Priority Platinum Club), so we had realistic expectations, but the first night we had one of the worst rooms we have stayed in anywhere. We were given a smoking room and told there was nothing else available. I'm talking solid matter in toilet, hair in sink and tub, dirty comforters & bedskirts, oddly balled up lumpy pilows, dirty coffee tray, stained and dirty rug (our feet got dirty from it), grimy walls, etc. Clearly more than just a skipped cleaning. The room stunk of mold and old smoke with a layer of deodorizing spray on top.The stench was so bad that at 3:00 a.m. my husband & I discussed sleeping in our car since all nearby motels were booked, but decided it was too cold. I could go on, but I think that conveys our experience.

There are nicer rooms and we were moved to one the next night,
but there were still endless problems. They actually checked somone else into the room after we were moved there, which meant someone else had free access to our room and belongings. Our billing was also messed up by hundreds of dollars - not in our favor.

And don't count on help from the manager. We spent three days leaving messages and working up the corporate ladder before he deigned to return our calls.

The only positive I can come up with is most all of the staff was friendly and tried to be helpful, even though competence varied widely. The bartender was great; we watched him handle some very difficult and very drunk customers tactfully and porfessionally.

also, the casino isn't onsite the way it appears, or adjacent the way they claim. It is up a very steep hill and far enough that I didn't see anyone attempt to walk it.

Aviod this motel! It would be hard to do worse.
