“Peaceful stay at the Bridgeton”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 31, 2006

I recently stayed at the Bridgeton House and found the place to be even better than anticipated. I booked a basic room there which was anything but basic (unlike the previous night in an inn in Philadelphia). The room had loads of personality, the bed very comfortable and the bathroom luxurious and clean. There was even a private terrace looking out on the river and a peaceful area with a fountain. Breakfast was delicious- fresh fruit salad, specialty omelets, banana walnut waffles...
I've got to say one of the best parts of the inn was the hostess Peg. She greeted me warmly and was terrific at pointing out the local haunts. I can't wait to get an opportunity to go back!

We had never stayed in a bed and breakfast before and decided to try it for the first time for our anniversary. My husband is not an incredibly social individual, so he was a little hesitant about sharing a house with strangers. After our weekend at the Bridgeton House, he's hooked! This place offers travelers the best of all worlds. It offers the intimacy of a family run bed and breakfast, with personal attentions like personal greetings, making dinner reservations for us and a delicious home cooked breakfast. It offers the charm of a country inn with delightful balconies, authentic details and a cozy sitting room. It also offers the conveniences of a hotel with hairdryers in the room, private baths, chamber service and cable TV. You can't ask for more! It has breathtaking views from ivy grown balconies and wonderfully comfy beds for a great night sleep. For those more socially challenged (like my amazing husband) breakfast is served either inthe privacy of your room, or at separate tables in a dining room. No big family tables and awkward small talk. You can socialize if you choose or you can have a very private, secluded and romantic experience. The beauty is that the choice is there! I can't say enough about this place and we will definitely return...maybe in the fall to check out the foliage!
