“The Best Kept Secret in The Eastern Corridor (New York, Philadelphia, Maryland..”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 11, 2007

Psst...Psst... Have you heard about the best kept secret along the Eastern Corridor? It's called the Artist's Inn! My husband and I visited with the owner's, Jan and Bruce, while celebrating our 21rst anniversary. Jan and Bruce have beautifully restored, a building, first constructed in 1848, into a romantic respite for lovers combined with a charming art gallery. Bruce's, artistically comical pieces invoke memories of a light whimsical era. My husband and I shared the garden suite, for one glorious week. We, were treated to a two room suite, with a fireplace,a private balcony, a king size bed (like sleeping on clouds), a daybed in the sitting room with a cozy two person jacuzzi, and a four head therapeutic shower. We were awakened every morning to an array of succulent aromas, drifting through our temporary home. Jan and Bruce spoiled us with a four course breakfast every morning. In addition to complimentary water, tea, coffee AND THE BEST HOMEMADE CHOCOLATE CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES IN THE WORLD. My advice is to book now(www.artistinn.com). And if you can't get the garden suite, maybe it's because we beat you to it, again!!!

We had a WONDERFUL stay at this B & B. Room extremely clean and inviting. Location to Lancaster sites very convenient.Food superb. The hosts are filled with grace and clearly invested in their guests enjoyment. My husband and I hope to make this a yearly sojourn. My only concern is with all the praise this B & B rightfully receives, it will be booked for years to come and we will have to wait our turn. Joyce B. and Malcolm J.

We received a gift certificate from our father in law who found the Artist Inn on the web. He did an excellent job as our stay was wonderful. We stayed in the Rose Room, which can also be a suite. The jetted tub was very relaxing.

Each day breakfast was a several course affair with many memorable items. The cookie jar was fantastic.

Also ate at the Green Hills Inn, per Jan's suggestion. Very romantic and the food was top notch.

All in all a wonderful weekend! Can't wait to return.

We have stayed at a lot of Bed and Breakfast and this is our favorite. Jan and Bruce are the best host. They have the best ability to know when to give guest privacy and when to chat. The house is very charming. The breakfast is out of this world. The drive from NC to PA is worth it and we look for reasons to go.

We decided to escape the hectic city life and get away for New Year's. Our mini get-a-way could not have been better! We stayed in the Cottage and our trip was fantastic. The cottage is beautiful, warm, with all the best amenities. The jacuzzi was the highlight of the stay. We also loved the fireplaces. The inn-keepers Jan and Bruce were very friendly and hospitable. Home-baked goodies were delicious. We also loved the horse drawn buggies outside, despite what others have said, it's very quiet and peaceful in the cottage, best sleep and rest ever! We can't wait to come back!

We were fortunate enough to stay in the stone cottage while visiting Lancaster. The cottage was lovely. It was very clean upon arrival. Each room was decorated with great care. Beautiful colors throughout each room. Lots of special touches, like custom window treatments. Fresh homemade pastries and cookies were waiting for us when we arrived. Jan and Bruce, the inn keepers could not have been nicer. Jan greeted me with a smile each time I stopped in to get advise on sight-seeing. The location is perfect. The inn and cottage are surrounded by farmland. It's the perfect way to get a real life, non-touristy view of Amish country. One of my favorite experiences was hearing the clip clop of horses going by right outside the cottage. Also, there was a lovely church bell that chimed only a couple of doors down. It was truly a wonderful experience. If you are looking for some interesting conversation, be sure to meet Bruce. His artwork is impressive and is guaranteed to put a smile on your face. As we were leaving, Jan sent a large bag of homemade cookies with us for the long drive home. I can't say enough good things about this special place and the kind inn keepers of the Artist's Inn.

What a wonderful place to spend a few days away. The B & B is a beautiful, serene place to be. The rooms are gorgeous, and carefully decorated down to every detail. Hospitality candles in the windows, special baskets, made to order, available, a gourmet breakfast served by the innkeepers, the bottomless cookie jar....and a fantastic art gallery. Imagine, sitting on the deck in the morning, drinking coffee, looking at the peaceful gardens, and listening to the clip clop of horses hooves trotting down the road...it is Amish Country after all. We came for a relaxing time, and we got it. Close to the antique capital, we spent our days looking for those treasures we didn't know we needed until we saw them. We enjoyed meeting new people at breakfast, and just exploring the area. Thank you Jan and Bruce..we loved our visit, and hope to come by again.
