“Wonderful Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2006

We were fortunate enough to stay in the stone cottage while visiting Lancaster. The cottage was lovely. It was very clean upon arrival. Each room was decorated with great care. Beautiful colors throughout each room. Lots of special touches, like custom window treatments. Fresh homemade pastries and cookies were waiting for us when we arrived. Jan and Bruce, the inn keepers could not have been nicer. Jan greeted me with a smile each time I stopped in to get advise on sight-seeing. The location is perfect. The inn and cottage are surrounded by farmland. It's the perfect way to get a real life, non-touristy view of Amish country. One of my favorite experiences was hearing the clip clop of horses going by right outside the cottage. Also, there was a lovely church bell that chimed only a couple of doors down. It was truly a wonderful experience. If you are looking for some interesting conversation, be sure to meet Bruce. His artwork is impressive and is guaranteed to put a smile on your face. As we were leaving, Jan sent a large bag of homemade cookies with us for the long drive home. I can't say enough good things about this special place and the kind inn keepers of the Artist's Inn.

What a wonderful place to spend a few days away. The B & B is a beautiful, serene place to be. The rooms are gorgeous, and carefully decorated down to every detail. Hospitality candles in the windows, special baskets, made to order, available, a gourmet breakfast served by the innkeepers, the bottomless cookie jar....and a fantastic art gallery. Imagine, sitting on the deck in the morning, drinking coffee, looking at the peaceful gardens, and listening to the clip clop of horses hooves trotting down the road...it is Amish Country after all. We came for a relaxing time, and we got it. Close to the antique capital, we spent our days looking for those treasures we didn't know we needed until we saw them. We enjoyed meeting new people at breakfast, and just exploring the area. Thank you Jan and Bruce..we loved our visit, and hope to come by again.

We just returned from our second stay at the Artist's Inn and Gallery. From the moment we arrived we were immediately made to feel at home. We thouroughly enjoyed the fresh baked raspberry chocolate chip cookies...mmmm! Our room was beautifuly decorated and very comfortable. The Innkeepers, Jan and Bruce, provide impeccable service. The best part of our stay was the 4 course gourmet breaksfast. As we told Jan...this was the best breakfast we have ever had...no exceptions!
The Artist's Inn and Gallery is a romantic quiet hideway that we look forward to visiting again soon.

I am gluten-intolerant (no wheat, oats, barley, rye) so it is often difficult for me to find food options while traveling. Oftentimes even 5-star hotels do not understand what it means to be gluten-free (gf). The Artist's Inn, however, changed my perspective on traveling. They provided me a gourmet gluten-free breakfast, including the most delicious pecan scones, using The Gluten Free Pantry's mix. The owners even contacted ahead of time to find out exactly what I can and cannot eat. I've never had such a delicious grain-filled gf breakfast. Thank you for sharing your recipes with me, Jan.

Just got married in April out of the country so there is really no time for us to have a honeymoon! Good thing one of our closest friends gave us a Bed and Breakfast gift certificate!

Well hate to admit it but we are skeptic at first. Being in a house with few other people, sharing meals is scary at the same time uncomfortable for us.

But all our negative perception changed when we reached Terre Hill! We were astounded by the sights we saw! Greeted by our warm and hospitable hostess! We were immediately offered cookies (the best I ever tasted so far), welcomed us and oriented us with the nice, cozy B&B!

In the morning we were served with delicious breakfast. It was really a 3-4 course meal breakfast! We felt that we were like a prince/princess!

Before we leave the house, our hostess even gave me a very nice momento that will remind us of that beautiful place!

The Artist’s Inn & Gallery has to be one of the most beautiful B & B’s in America. The accommodations are absolutely stunning and romantic and perfect. The gourmet breakfasts will last you all day – I have never had such amazing breakfasts in my life. Bruce and Jan are the perfect Innkeepers, they are hospitable and knowledgeable and always smiling. They have more ideas of what to do in Lancaster County than you could do in 2 weeks. We will go back for years to come, just to see Bruce and Jan and feast on the delectable 4-coarse breakfasts. An added bonus are the delicious homemade treats Jan leaves out all day long – their dining room is so warm and welcoming you just want to hang out and soak up the atmosphere. WE LOVED IT!!!!!
