“Camelback - The Straw that Nearly Broke Our Vacation”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed January 8, 2008

Buyer beware, If you like crowds and long wait times then this is the place for you. We are avid snow tubers and have been to many different places in the North East for snow tubing and by far we've enjoyed Camelback the least.

We went to the park on a Wednesday as to try an avoid the weekend crowd, right out of the gate I should have known there was an issue with the place when I had to wait over half an hour to pay to enter. They only had one window open to purchase tickets, and even though there seemed to be staff available they failed to open an additional window despite the ever growing line. It didn't seem like a lot of people as far as tubing parks go but they just took a very long time to process each transaction.

The Camelback website states that they have single tubes, double tubes and family tubes but on this day there was only single and family tubes.

They also claim to have an expanded snow tubing park that features fourteen runs but on this day there was only 3 single runs and 2 family runs, resulting in very long wait times for the family tubes. We waited 30 minutes for the first run down the hill and 45 minutes for the second. Not a lot of fun on a cold day and there was no place to go in and get warm. What they claim is the lodge is nothing more that a shack with a couple of picnic tables and bathrooms that was so crowded that you couldn't even turn around. We had to go to the car and turn on the heat in order to get warm.

This place does not live up to it's advertising, mismanagement, poor facilities, definitely not worth the price.

“Clean and Safe”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 15, 2007

Camelbeach is a great water park for families - it's clean, there is plenty of personell to manage the park, and there's a wide variety of rides. Get there when it opens, though, as it gets really crowded after noon and it's hard to find chairs. Lots of school groups there during the week, but they all leave around 4 p.m. and the line lengths are dramatically reduced.

On the downside, the park plays really irritating music, and they play it really, really loudly, even in the bathrooms. That got kind of old after 5 or 6 hours. The brochures for the park claim the water is heated and feels great even on a cold day, but on the day we were there, the water was freezing. (Outside temp was in the low 80's and we were still cold after getting out of the pool.) One of the lifeguards told me they don't really heat the water. Interesting...

Anyway, despite a few complaints, my family had a great time at Camelbeach.

“We really enjoyed this waterpark”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2007

When we go on a family vaction we always try to find a waterpark to take the kids to. So, I've been to several of them over the years.

Camelbeach ranks right at the top.

The park is clean and well run. There are plenty of lifeguards. The lifeguards are very alert and take their jobs seriously.

We went on a Saturday in July and the park wasn't overly crowded. This is always a plus.

The food was decent for amusement park food. Prices about what you'd expect for this type of place.

The chlorine in the water was a bit strong and stung my eyes.
But it wasn't that bad, I've been in worse.

Overall we had a nice day and all the kids (ages 6-13) had a great time.

Definately would recommend.

“Beware of the crime”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2007

I went to Camelbeach with my kids for a day trip and had a nice time, until I returned to my car and found out that it was broken into. My GPS and a computer were stolen. The cops had been called, but the park management made no attemot to contact me for 90+ minutes. There were four other cars vandalized in that lot on that day. There are no warnings about security concerns, though there are security patrols. The police indicated that this happens with some frequency. The long and short of it is to be aware that others prey on the tourists and park management needs to be more aggressive in their visibility if they want to remain a destination people will be willing to risk visiting.
