“Scooter tour of Amish countryside”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 20, 2014

Great way to spend a warm summer afternoon. We are an older (70+) but active couple who thoroughly enjoyed this experience. Craig was a patient, caring instructor helping nervous me to handle the scooter that we drove on roads shared with cars, trucks and horse-drawn carriages. We rode, I don't know how many miles, up and down hills beeping at and high-five-ing friendly Amish children, seeing beautiful scenery, perfectly farmed fields and immaculately maintained Amish farmhouses. Don't let age stop you from doing this tour. If you can balance, follow instructions and laugh all at the same time (Craig has a contagious sense of humor), you're in for a fun, scenic and educational few hours.

Thank you for taking the time to tell the world about us on TripAdvisor. We truly appreciate and review all of the comments.

The oldest rider to date to take one of our tours was 83 and never rode anything on two wheels other than a bicycle. As long as you have a valid driver's license, you can sign up and we will work with you on learning how to ride a scooter.

We want everyone to be able to safely enjoy the experience. Over the years, we have had people that registered who were not able to operate a scooter, both young and older. If you register for a tour and are not able to operate a scooter, you will not be refunded. Inventory is limited and a reservation takes a scooter out of inventory.

A few things to keep in mind before you decide whether you want to reserve your tour.

1. You should have good balance and coordination.

2. You should be able to lift your feet onto the floorboards when moving and put them on the ground when stopped.

3. Throttle and braking are done with your hands. Throttle requires the use of your right hand, while braking requires the use of both.

Once again thank you for your review and letting people know that age doesn't matter.

“A fabulous ride through the Amish Countryside”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 18, 2014

What a wonderful day! Our scooter trip with Strasburg Scooter was just fabulous. Our witty guide Craig made sure we were all comfortable with our scootering skills before we departed. Craig was delightful, knowledgeable and quite the joke teller. Don’t miss the best way to see the Amish PA countryside. A great time was had by all!

“Strasburg Scooters Covered Bridges Tour”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 16, 2014

I saw this trip advertised and though it'd be a unique way to spend an afternoon with my wife and some friends - I was right. We had a blast! Beautiful, hilly countryside, friendly Amish folk waving at you as you buzz by, and an informative and funny guide. Book the tour and do something different than the usual weekend routine.

“Thrilling for beginning riders!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 16, 2014

Scooter - riding was awesome! I found this experience thrilling in a scary, death-defying way as a brand new scooter rider learning to operate a scooter on major highways with busy weekend traffic. Their parking lot is small and odd-shaped so they send you out on Highway 741 to learn how to ride! As soon as we got there we witnessed a middle-age male, just learning to ride, lay the bike down and slide into the Highway - scraped up his arm pretty bad, shook-up his female companion as well as all of us just about to start the tour. The injured male and his female companion did not end up going with us. Not sure what happened to them (hospital maybe?) but it really underscored for me the danger involved here- mostly due to the lack of space they have to practice.
Luckily there were no more injuries after that but there is definitely a learning curve when stopping and starting. Not for chickens!!
But it was soooo fun! The scenery was beautiful and the best stop was the Amish dairy farm where we got to walk all around the barn and see the Amish kids working the horse-drawn tractor, etc. Really amazing!!

Thank you for taking the time to review us on TripAdvisor. We read every review and take all comments into consideration. We just wanted to take a moment to address some of your concerns.

The parking lot, while small, is suitable for training. Before sending guests out onto the road, we review the operation of the bikes and also test for balancing the bike, use of the throttle and use of the brakes. Any guest that does not successfully demonstrate the ability to do any of those three things is not sent onto the roadway for further training. Guests failing to make it to the roadway portion of training will not be allowed to go on the tour.

The injuries sustained were superficial, an abrasion on the arm and hand. They were tended to by a trained first responder with over 15 years experience. After leaving Strasburg Scooter they went shopping.

Once again, thank you for taking the time to review us, we take the input of our guests very serious.
