“Kids of all ages will enjoy”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 12, 2013

If you like model trains you will love this display. Cannot tell you too much of what you will see without giving too much away but it is worth a visit no matter what your age.

“Good size O scale train display; elaborate and updated over the years they have been in business”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 1, 2013

I've loved trains for 50 years. This was my first visit here; wanted to come here for years, but I moved away from Northeast US long ago.

Train room is not that large - estimate 20x30 ft, goes from 'daylight' to 'night', cars and buildings have lights. You can stay as long as you like and go around the sizable display multiple times. CHOO CHOO is close to "Railroad Museum of PA", "Strasburg Railroad", and "National Toy Train Museum". Check out all of these on Tripadvisor / internet.

Would I revisit ... no. Once is enough.

They give you a guide sheet to call out obscure items you might miss otherwise. Great sheet to use with kids to make it a "game" to find certain things,

A lot of animated sections and scenes - parades, circus, "fires", flying planes, etc.

CHOO CHOO is fine place to visit if you are in the Strasburg area for other reasons, If making a trip to just see a train display I suggest the VERY LARGE "Northlandz" in Flemington, NJ, "Merchants Square Model Train Exhibit" Allentown, PA, or "Roadside America" in Shartlesville, PA .. all 2 hours or less away from Strasburg. Might find better value for your money.

Thank you for your visit and your review!
Our train layout is 1700 square feet (much larger than 20'x30') and while it may not be the biggest, we think it packs a big punch! We have over 150 different hand-built moving parts and figures in addition to 22 running trains. Strasburg is a great place for anyone who loves trains and we too suggest visiting the other local train attractions, as well as the layouts that you mentioned. Let's keep the model railroading hobby alive and well!

“Second time's the charm”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2013

I am giving this place 5 stars after my second visit there. I was annoyed the first time when I walked into the store and you couldn't see what you were paying TO see. They have a solid curtain up as to not let you see the train display. It wasn't until we paid $22 (2 adults, 2 kids ages 5&3) that were allowed access to the train display. The display is HUGE and you walk to the left and walk around the table. You can not believe the attention to detail to this train set up. People, places, things- you name it, they have it. Your kids will love it! But expect to be in there for quite a while, esp. if it is crowded because the line is single file and you are at the mercy of the people ahead of you. The best part is that it becomes nighttime and the stars come out and the town lights up...magical!

“Love it”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 20, 2013

This was the second time to the Choo Choo Barn and I love this miniature railroad display, I have seen others around the country, but this is my favorite. This display not only features trains but with the trains there are many activities taking place around the large room to look out for, this is why you get a guide so you don't miss them and know what to look for, my favorite is the house that starts to burn and the fire truck actually comes over and firemen proceed to actually pour water and extinguished the fire, along with rescuing household members. The exhibits also goes from daylight to night-time, features zoo, work crews, baseball park, amusement park, Amish constructing homes, skiing and much more, a work of art, I recommend seeing and admiring.

“Neat place but pricey”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 16, 2013

We stopped here so our 3year old could get his train fix in. At $7.00 a person, it is very pricey. The display is really nice and leaves you wondering how they do some of the things they did. We only made 1 trip around because it was crowded and we were trying to get over to the railroad. Nice place to stop and see if you have anyone interested in trains.
