“Typical Mexican Menu”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 4, 2013

Nothing here to really excite you except the decor, which is colorful and interesting. Menu is typical Mexican food with nothing unusual. Be aware they do NOT serve alcohol drinks. Not even beer.

“Should put as much energy into the food as they do the decor”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2013

I wandered in by accident, and it was a mistake. The decor is more gauche than gaucho: utterly tacky images of 'ol Mexico in bright pastel colors (toreadors, swirling senoritas, big hats, et. al.) adorn every surface including the tabletops and dividers between the booths. But nothing prepares you for the food. First, salsa & chips, but the salsa had not even a hint of spice. Then, I had taquitos which featured oil-drenched tortillas tightly curled around beef or chicken which had, literally, been burned to a crisp. And for lack of a liquor license, not even a beer to wash it all down. A memorably awful meal.

“Colorful Mexican Restaurant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2013

I recently stopped at this new Mexican restaurant located on Atherton Ave. There are a lot of parking spaces and there was a steady stream of diners of all ages that were welcomed as you came in the door. You cannot say enough about the decor--it is very, very colorful. There is a lot of detail on the backs of the booths that are carved and painted very brightly, so even on a dull day it should brighten your spirits. The table was covered with glass but underneath the glass at our table was a sketch of a female charro with her lasso. Service was excellent and if you want to practice some Spanish, this is the place to be. We were served tortillas chips and salsa which was quite good. The menu was fairly typical of most Mexican restaurants and my guest and I were both very satisfied with our menu selections (a Jalisco platter which had I believe an enchilada, a tamal, a taco, refried beans, etc.--it was a huge plate) an I had tacos a la carne asada with rice. The flan was not very sweet. I would like to encourage the chef to put something different or a special of the day on the menu that you might not find in the average Mexican restaurant--like perhaps a huachinango a la veracruzana or a pozole. All in all it has a nice atmosphere, recognizable Mexican music that was not so loud that you could not hold a normal conversation and a good menu. But I was hoping for perhaps a surprise or two on the menu or as a special. If they can do that, I think it can be very successful.

“No Surprises”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 27, 2013

The staff was very nice. The front of the house was clean. I think the men's restroom should have been in better repair for a new place.

I had fajitas. They were saltier than I would have liked, and the pieces of meat were too small, but it was satisfying.

The rice was nice, but the refried beans reminded me of Chi Chis. Guac was fresh and tasty. All in all, no surprises for a Mexican place in central PA. Average, with no strong negatives. Fair prices. Really tall chairs.
