We have been going to Skytop for over twenty years, so we feel like it is part of our family! We have come to know many of the staff and really treasure these relationships. So when we are a bit critical, we mean well, and really want the best for this wonderful resort! It has such a sense of history and charm - and is visually spectacular, set in the Pocono Mountains, with impressive grounds encompassing lakes, mountains, waterfalls, and impressive gardens.
There are a variety of lodging options from which to choose. We would give the Inn FIVE STARS - everything there is perfection. Carol, the main manager, as well as Chris, her senior assistant, give attentive, gracious, and personalized service. They go the extra mile and then some to make sure that our stays there exceed our expectations. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and the restaurant there first rate. Tom and Claire are expert mixologists at the bar and provide fabulous camraderie as well as expert advice on wine picks. We would rate the service and experience there as on par with any 5 star hotel.
The Lodge is a larger operation, with many more rooms and a massive dining room, and the bigger scale unfortunately means less of a personal touch. Though the food in the Windsor dining room can be first rate, service can be spotty. We have been here so many times that we know the best servers and can request them, but the uninitiated might not be as lucky depending upon who they get. The rooms are smaller, and as some of the other reviewers have noted, some of the beds have very firm, uncomfortable mattresses, and bathrooms were small and dated. The Lodge has the air of an aging movie star, who, while still charming, needs to work to become more contemporary and relevant. The best part of the Lodge continues to be their Bellstaff, who welcome folks checking in with a cheery "Welcome home!", and impress with their "can-do", accommodating attitude.
We are returning to Skytop in the spring and look forward to staying in one of their new streamside cottages for a different experience, but our default will always be the Inn.

Thank you for your glowing letter regarding your recent stay at Skytop. Carol, our Inn manager, as well as Chris, Tom and Claire and the entire Inn staff have provided such caring service for our guests for many years. They, as well as the entire team at the Inn, are dedicated to ensuring our guests have a wonderful experience.
Skytop’s Inn has been a shining star for our guests and yet we are fortunate to have such a variety of accommodations. Many of our guests enjoy staying at the Lodge. Although admittedly the rooms are smaller and less “modern,” there is still a compelling charm and elegance that is part of the Lodge experience. In any event, our entire Skytop team is focused on providing a wonderful guest retreat for families large and small since 1928. I hope to have the opportunity to say hello to you this spring. As usual, the spring brings such beautiful blossoming flowers to Skytop.
Have a great year and see you soon!
