“You gotta be kiddin!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2011

We arrived at Shawnee resort and decided to eat at Napoli's since it was right across the road and dark (we didn't want to get lost the first night). We walked in and stood viewing the menu for 5-7 minutes. Finally, this one worker asked us if we were eating in or ordering to take out. When we told him we wanted to eat in, he said "go sit down at any table and we'll be there shortly". 10 minutes later, he arrived at our table to take our order for pizza and soft drinks. We received our soft drinks, but they didn't taste like anything I had ever tasted -- so we took them back and opted to buy a canned softdrink from the refrigerator. 10 minutes later, this same guy brings a shaker of salt, pepper, and some napkins to our table and two thin paper plates and silverware. Meanwhile, three other customers that were eating there were complaining of the service. We finally got our pizza that had a ROW of sausage, a ROW of mushrooms and another ROW of pepperoni! When we tried to cut it (too hot to pick up), the paper plate cut through also. Received my written check - but it was for the guy at another table! We finally finished and got OUR check, paid it and got out of there as fast as we could!

“Best pizza we've had in a long time!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 4, 2011

We went to Shawnee on vacation and stopped in after a long day of driving. We had the best pizza we've ever had outside of Italy! Everything is homemade and delicious and there was even fresh herbs on our pizza. We went back again for their pasta and it was fantastic also. The Cheese Ravioli is loaded with cheese and the homemade sauce was delicious. We decided to also try desert and were not disappointed with the crunchiest and tastiest canolis.

We recommend stopping here, it was great!

“The Shadiest Place in Shawnee”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed June 11, 2011

We thought we would try Napoli for a casual lunch after seeing its listing on restaurant.com and buying a gift certificate. When we arrived, there was a hand-written note at the counter stating they no longer accepted restaurant.com certificates, even though we had purchased ours minutes before going there. The server consulted with the owner and they refused to take it.

We unfortunately decided eat there anyway since we were hungry. The food was average, but when we got the check, I inquired about a mystery charge of $5 and I was told it was “part of the bill.” I kept asking what it was, and he finally said it was the gratuity. Nowhere on the menu or posted did they say gratuity was included. I was surprised, especially since we were only a party of two. We religiously tip 20% when eating out, and I told the server that he would have gotten a larger tip had he not tried to sneak it into the bill. My husband and I demanded to be refunded the “gratuity,” and after some resistance, the owner finally did. After reading all the signs posted about extra charges for condiments to-go (including salt and pepper), my guess is that these guys are padding people’s bills with all kinds of charges, and since the checks are hand-written, no one really catches on. Then well-meaning people add tips on to their inflated bill. This restaurant is shady all around, and we will never be eating here again.

As an aside, I called restaurant.com, and they said they have a contract with the restaurant and it is required to accept the certificates, but they happily credited our account for the certificate.
