“Nice staff but not so nice motel”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 9, 2008

The only reason we stayed here was because our friends were having a wedding anniversary party and had received a special rate from the motel. Otherwise, we would have stayed elsewhere...though likely not in Pottstown. Amazingly, this seems to be the nicest motel/hotel in the town.

The place is old; the safety latch on our door was almost completely broken off. The drains in shower, toilet and sink drained the water very slowly...we stood in 2 inches of water in the shower and held our breath every time we flushed the toilet because it nearly overflowed each time. Bathtub was chipping and dirty.

There are no "privacy" curtains...ones in which light can come in but people can't see you. As a result, you are either in a cave, with the curtains closed, or, with the curtains open, everyone can see you.

The promised wireless was lacking...we could not receive the signal from our room, though it worked in the lobby.

We changed rooms the first night because we could hear our neighbor's every word (we had a room with an adjoining door). Once we were moved, it was quieter in that section of the motel. The air conditioner likely helped drown out other noises.

Our AC worked, but two other friends reported their's were broken. Staff let them move rooms the next day.

Overall, I would never stay here again, unless the new management makes major renovations. It's just an old motel, but an old motel with high room rates.

I stayed one night at the Quality Inn in March, 2007. The motel is conveniently located off Route 422. Although my stay there was not terrible, I had no desire to return. Everything in my room worked, and it was reasonably clean (except for pistachio nut shells in the waste basket.) However, the entire place is worn and dreary. There are no corridors. To reach the second floor rooms, one must go up some very dark and partially remote concrete steps. If this was the only choice in the price range, I guess I would perservere. However, there are several budget hotels in the vicinity. I now stay in the new, cleaner, similarly priced Comfort Inn during my frequent visits to Pottstown.

Not a bad hotel, but not what it could be, either. The sidewalks & interior walkways were scroungy; the safety latch on our door was broken. The cable TV choices were limited. There are lots of signs & stickers posted everywhere asking/warning you not to steal or destroy things. We could hear our neighbors plainly through the wall. But it was not all bad-the room was clean, the desk clerk was friendly, the location is good. There was a wedding reception being held downstairs as we arrived and the noise in the parking lot had us worried. But we couldn't hear it at all in the room. With a little more attention to detail this could be one of the good ones.

  • Liked — The room was clean.
  • Disliked — Dirty looking hallways.
  • Tips/Secrets — If heading north from 422 the hotel is on the right. There are 2 roads next to each other, you need to take the second one. They are not well marked & taking the first exit will send you off in the wrong direction. The family restaurant in front of the hotel is just so-so. There is a good shopping mall between the hotel & 422.

We got a coupon from the coupon books along the turnpike and got an excellent price. The front desk was very helpful and kind. The family diner next door was reasonable. The rooms were clean with everything we needed. There are railroad tracks very close by but we didn't hear any trains. Located further from the turnpike than we expected but it was fine for us.The pool looked clean. People were in the pool at 10 pm but our room was far enough not to hear them. The continental breakfast was good with scambled eggs, muffins, bagels, juices, etc. Would highly recommend staying here.

I've stayed at many hotels in this area and this is by far the most satisfactory to me. Its the newest hotel and its the greatest stay for the price. Service was friendly, rooms were clean, and they provided me with free tickets to a live show they had in their lounge. Good deal.
