“Gorgeous property”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 15, 2012

The building and grounds were much nicer than we expected (much better in person than on the B&B's website). They have several patios and amazing landscaping that looks onto a sweeping lawn and forest.

The building is lovely rustic architecture; the rooms are spacious and very clean. The decor is old-fashioned and pretty corny-- it's definitely "country charm" and rather than chic or modern.

If you're looking for outdoorsy activities, this place is located just about 10 minutes from the main entrance of Black Moshannon State Park, which is extremely well-kept and has lots of lovely trails for hiking and mountain biking.

The hosts cook and serve a hearty family-style breakfast to all the guests. The food isn't great but it's plentiful and served with a smile.

We really appreciated the little generous things about this place-- for example, there are homemade cookies and tons of other snacks and drinks stocked in the guests' kitchen for the taking. Our room also had an awesome gas fireplace. These little things earned the 5 stars.

What a lovely getaway! Sandy and Carlton were very welcoming, and the B&B was super comfortable. Beautiful fall foliage on the property, a great place to do some fall foliage tourism. Plenty of space outside and inside, board-games and lots of DVDs available, and fast wifi too. Big yummy breakfast in the morning, and nice conversation with the owners and other guests. A wonderful stay!

Sandy & Carlton were excellent hosts and really made us very welcome. The accommodation is excellent. It was like staying in a 1st class hotel. Beautiful grounds and a decking area where we enjoyed the view with our friends over a glass or two of wine. Highly recommended.

This was our second time at the Mountain Hideaway and was just enjoyable as the first. The location is just superb. The owners are lovely people and help and assist when required. This is by far the best B & B we have ever stayed in. looking forward to the third visit.

We took a mid-week escape to the Mountain Hideaway and it was so wonderful. Only 20-25 minutes to State College, but it feels like its worlds away. The home is beautifully kept and very clean and the grounds are breath-taking.

We stayed in the Buena Vista room and were so happy. The bed was wonderful to sleep on, the gas fireplace was a bonus, and the jacuzzi was so relaxing. The Buena Vista room also has a GORGEOUS view onto the gardens and koi pond. Sandy (and Carleton) are also wonderful hosts. She's a fabulous cook and spoils her guests in really wonderful ways. We felt so welcome and loved talking with Sandy, but also felt like we had our own privacy and space to enjoy this wonderful hideaway.

The freezer came stocked with four kinds of ice cream, along with other treats (popcorn, soda, candy). There was a freshly baked cake and all kinds of coffee, tea, and hot cocoa. We were blown away! The grounds are beautiful to walk, but there's also space for the guests to relax and watch TV or a movie (they have many) as well as play a game (again, they have many). If we weren't moving next month, we would be coming back here as often as we could!!!

Room Tip: There are only three rooms! If you want a beautiful view, fireplace, and jacuzzi tub -- definitely g...

This is the best B&B we have ever experienced! The tranquil location, gorgeous facility, welcoming hospitality, delicious food, sightings of wildlife and views of mountain ranges, are exemplary. You could not ask for anything more. It would be impossible not to relax here and enjoy being treated like a king or queen by the owners. They are wonderful people who aim to please in every way possible.

Room Tip: All the rooms are top notch.

The sensation was of being so far removed from busy surroundings, yet is so easily accessible and relatively close to a major university. The breakfasts were beyond expectation! The setting is very scenic in summertime (Must be stupendous in fall & winter). Spacious rooms and common area; inside and outside well-maintained. Sandy, Carlton & Chico are most gracious and friendly hosts.
