I have stayed here 3 times so far and can't wait to come back. Our daughter plays club volleyball and we traveled to Penn State for tournaments 3 times. It's a beautiful house up on the hill. Sandy & Carolton are the most wonderful people. Sandy is an awesome cook as well. If you are looking for a place to stay while visiting Sate College, this is the place.

What a wonderful and friendly vacation destination. Sandy and Carlton were the perfect hosts, and they provided absolutely everything you could think of for a great get-away.

We have stayed at a lot of nice B & B's, but this one stands out as the very best. You can bet we will be back.

Room Tip: All are outstanding.

We love this B&B! We've stayed at this B&B every year for the past 6 years. It is a cozy get-away for rest and relaxation, but is also close to State College, which offers lots of dining and entertainment options.

The Mountain Hideaway B&B is an awesome weekend getaway. The accomodations are lovely, the surroundings are storybook, the food is unbelievable, and the hosts (Sandy and Carlton) are the BEST!! We love going in the winter when our bedroom fireplace is glowing, snow is falling outside, colorful birds are right outside our huge window, and we can just snuggle in, relax, and enjoy being together. Love, love, love going there!

For the past 5 years, we have been fortunate enough to come to the Mountain Hideaway to spend a football weekend with three other couples. It is a weekend we always look forward to. Sandy and Carlton treat us like family. The place is absolutely beautiful with the first floor hosting breakfast and our "together times". Breakfast is another highlight with delicious recipes that Sandy is always willing to share. After the excitement of State College, it is great to return to this peaceful chalet. You will not be disappointed in anything.

We have been to many B&B's and I do not necessarily give a "5" rating just because the breakfast is great and the host & hostess are friendly (which Sandy & Carlton are!) Mountain Hideaway rates a "5" because it also: is spacious (not just the room, which had a big screen TV, gas fireplace, table for two, etc, ) but also the large common area just for guests; has beautiful views from the bedroom, from the manicured grounds and from a nearby trail (Dug Road of all names) up the side of the mountain; is comfortable (stocked fridge in the common area, big sofa, extra TV room, etc.); and is spotless (you take your shoes off at the door). I saw both a turkey and a deer from the patio by the fishpond/waterfall. Sandy is a former art teacher and her interest shows in the design and decor. Mountain Hideaway looks even nicer than the web--photos. In addition to being about 20 minutes from Penn State, it is about the same distance from Julian, the soaring/glider capital of of the US, if not the world. Take a glider ride there -- you will love it. My only warning is Mountain Hideway means what the name says -- it is about 3 miles from the main road and half that three miles is a gravel road, a broad, level, straight and well maintained gravel road, but gravel nonetheless. I could not recommend Mountain Hideaway and Sandy & Carlton more highly.
