“First time staying at a Bed and Breakfast”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2012

My boyfriend (now fiancee) and I recently stayed at The Inn on Maple Street Bed and Breakfast. It was the first time for each of us to stay at a Bed and Breakfast. Jay and Sharen are so welcoming. The B and B is very charming and quite comfortable. They were even doing some renovations while we were there and that did not dampen our visit at all. Our room was in an annex that they have, which was just around the corner from the main building. The rooms are so comfortable, nicely decorated, and really makes you feel at home. If you forgot to pack anything, they probably already have it in the room for you or can help you get it if they don't. Breakfast was delicious. Tucker (their dog) is very friendly. They have board games, card games, books, puzzles, magazines, tvs, and all sorts of things for you to enjoy. We came in from dinner one night and Jay asked if we had dessert. We hadn't and he offered us some of his homemade cheesecake. What a tasty and delightful way to spend some time on the porch. When we were leaving, Jay asked if we knew how to get to our next destination (they were first on our stop and then we were heading to the beach). We told him what route we had planned and he gave us advice on what roads to take and not to take. Part of the route we had picked would have held us up with traffic, construction, and other things. His suggestions quickly and easily guided us to the beach. He even gave us his cell phone number and said if we got lost that we could call him and he'd help us out. I cannot say enough nice things about this Bed and Breakfast. My fiancee and I will definitely be going back there again! We loved it!

This was our very first experience at a bed and breakfast and we really liked it! it seems like August was a little slow, we were the only couple that stayed. nonetheless the rooms were clean and cozy. Breakfast was great :) Jay was very helpful and provided us with places to see and directions. We went to stargaze at cherry springs park, which was spectacular. however, had we known it was a 40 minute drive from the park to the inn, we would have picked a closer place. the windy roads can be a little tricky at night with some of the animals crossing your path. overall, it's a great bed and breakfast and we had a wonderful stay.

It's great to hear how much you enjoyed your first time visit to our B&B. Having the wildlife in the area as part of the scenery is normal up here in the mountains. The Cherry Springs Dark Skies events can be experienced year round so we hope you can join us again. Thank you for staying with us.

First time staying at a B&B, and didn't know what to expect. I was greeted warmly by Jay and Sharen, the owners of this restored mansion. I stayed in the Oak room with private attached bathroom / shower, and all the ammenities of home. Ceiling fan, not seen in website pics, was an added blessing on a 85 degree day. Sharen had made me a pot of tea with her homemade blueberry bread for nighttime snack which I was able to take to my room. I had Jays Mexican vanilla french toast with fresh strawberries and sausage for breakfast, and some great conversation with other guests. I will look forward to a return trip. Nancy H.

Room Tip: rooms are large and beds are very comfortable

This is a sweet and homey B&B, and it’s just like staying with a long-lost aunt and uncle. Sharen and Jay welcome you in a very relaxed way to their homey accommodations.
(Note that the spelling of Sharen includes the word “share” and we’d say that this unique spelling is indicative of the generous spirit here.) They are kind and thoughtful hosts, and they were especially respectful of our military veteran friend.

Our family recently visited the "PA Wilds" to take in some of the spectacular scenery in Northwestern PA. We loved our stay! The Innkeepers, Jay and Sharen, were very warm and friendly, and made us feel right at home during our visit.

We stayed in the Maple Suite, which was next door to the main Inn. We found it quaint, private, and roomy for our family of five; my husband and myself, our daughter and her husband, and our 21-yr-old son. We had also brought along our dog, Hines, who was welcomed with a bag of special treats upon arrival. The kitchen was small but well-stocked; full refrigerator, stove, coffee maker and cooking/dining supplies. The bathroom was well-lit and supplied with extra towels, a blow-dryer, & toiletries.

The breakfast was delicious and very generous! We enjoyed the fresh fruit, fruit juices, blueberry muffins, banana bread and breakfast burritos. Yum! Upon arrival, we had been asked if we had any special dietary needs, and while I mentioned that I did not eat pork products, I was surprised when they made turkey sausage especially for me! During breakfast, the coffee was good and the conversation interesting! We found Sharen and Jay to be very helpful with directions, as well as local history and information.

We really enjoyed the area. Cherry Springs State Park is not far away. We were able to attend an awesome Star Watching Party, and we also went to see the PA Grand Canyon, and toured the nearby town of Wellsboro.

We can't wait to visit again!

Thank you for your review. Happily our Maple Suite (carriage house) has provided ample room for many of our guests, especially those with children. We've posted a photo of our cinnamon pancakes with local maple syrup on FaceBook, as others have also requested the recipe. We hope you can join us during the warm summer months to enjoy the front porch with us. Thank you again.

My wife and I stayed at the Inn this weekend.
We had a great stay ,cable TV, beds were comfortable, everything was clean; and a great breakfast.
Renovations are ongoing and had an impact on us. Walking into the foyer, which has just been completed, is a "WOW, nice job".
Jay and Sharon are very friendly and were very helpfull in regards to the purpose of our trip.
The 4 and 5 green circle reviews on this site are well deserved.
